Jaxon's apartment really isn't as nice as it looks. He loves it, its not like he doesn't, but its not nearly that clean and that nice looking. Like back at foxhurst, his bedroom is still cluttered with books and free hanging light bulbs. His den has a small television (on the fireplace, this was taken before he had it) and there's an xbox lying around somewhere.. The floor plan is entirely open. There are no separate rooms. The only section that he keeps private is his bedroom which he made into a "room" with a few dividers. Not even his "bath" area is sectioned off. Oh, by the way, he doesn't have a toilet. There's a community bath house on every floor in his building. Each one holds four toilets and four urinals. So if you're ever over and you gotta use the facilities.. they're down the hall. The past owner of this apartment was an artist.. so there's a lot of paint all over the walls. Jax doesn't mind.. he won't admit it, but he's thrown paint at the walls too. All along the front of the apartment is a wall of ceiling to floor windows. There's no deck though.. only a fire escape (which he uses as a deck.. there's a few chairs on it and probably a flower pot or two). Its not like his home is a total pig's pen.. but there's some cleaning that could be done. Regardless, its his home and he loves it. Especially because he can afford it.

"Oh, I see," Naveah murmured, listening to his small story. She hadn't expected him to ever drop out of college, but she supposed it wasn't too strange. There were a few people from Foxhurst that she knew dropped out, too - and it wasn't a big deal to her, but she felt bad for boasting about being a historian and having a degree and such. "Well you have all the time in the world to figure out who you want to be, right? I mean, it's not like you have to know what you want forever." She smiled at him as they walked through the alley, but her grip on his hand tightened; even though she lived in the slums, she didn't have to like dark places where anything could happen.
She was glad when they were out of the alley, and even more glad to see that his home was just a few paces away. Before he could lead her inside the apartment building, Naveah stopped and looked up. The sun was directly above them, so she didn't have to move to face it. Crossing herself with the Holy Trinity, she mumbled a quick prayer, then looked at Jax with an apologetic smile. "I guess I haven't changed that much?" She shrugged, and let go of his hand to slide through the door to the building. She stopped again to let him lead the way.

Jax smiled at her. "Not so much up here," he said rubbing the top of her head, "Just a little more all around.. here," he added waving his hands all around her and chuckling. Waving, suggesting that she follow him, Jaxon headed for the stairs and did a dramatic spin when he got to them, hanging on the banister. "To the tower, m'dear," he said with an overly dramatic British accent, reaching his hand out to grab hers as he proceeded up and up and up the stairs until he got to the fourth floor where he stopped suddenly and grabbed her shoulder, looking back and forth down the hall suspiciously. "Shhh sh sh, they might be watching us," he said quietly, the British accent still there (in hopes that she'd know he was just trying to make her laugh).
After a moment of drama, Jax straightened up, giggled and backed up into a door which opened with the force. "Zis is mah home," he said, putting his arm out signalling for her to come in. "Its a bit bigger than my dorm was.. but I assure you the free hanging light bulbs that you loved are still all in my bedroom," he said as he closed the door behind her. "Want anything?" he asked as he went for the fridge and grabbed a beer.

Naveah laughed and reached up to bat his hand away when he patted her head. Looking down at herself, she raised an eyebrow. "I haven't changed that much." She muttered - she hadn't, had she? Shrugging, she followed him towards the stairs, glad when he held out his hand to take her again. Lacing their fingers once more, she skipped up the stairs - literally - full of happiness. It wasn't every day you get to hang out with your best friend again.
Getting to the top, she rolled her eyes at Jax's drama, but played along, crouching next to him as if hiding. After pretended to be frozen for a second, she had to giggle with him, entering his apartment a bit shyly. She was kind of nervous about being there, especially since she hadn't seen him in a while, but she didn't really care. She just liked hanging out with him. After she stepped inside the doorway, she sort of danced around a little, then stopped in the middle of the room. "No, I'm good," she muttered when he asked if she wanted anything. "So, Jax, do you really think I changed? I just gained a little weight." She blushed.

"You've changed in a good way," Jax said, putting his head lightly to the side hoping she hadn't thought that he meant she changed in a bad way. "You're all grown up!" he said turning to grab a bottle opener out of a drawer. "And hot.." he added rather quietly, not quite sure he should just blurt that out.
Turning back around, Jax went for the couch at the other end of the room and patted the cushion next to him wanting her to come sit. "So miss archaeologist.. you like it dirty?" he asked, only seconds later realizing what he said. "Oh fuck that's not what I meant.." he added quickly, putting his head down and taking a sip of beer, trying to play it off cool.

Laughing, Naveah tried to smile lightly. She was embarrassed that he was paying attention to her - as weird as that sounded. When she heard him mention that she was hot, she thought she was imagining it until she saw the slightest hint of a blush on his cheek. Her face flushed red and she couldn't resist teasing him a little. "So I grew up and got hot?" She struck a pose, one hand placed on her hip sassily. "I'd like to think I was always hot, but you know, I'll take it as a compliment."
She walked over to join him on the couch, sitting down and tucking her legs under her. She leaned on her arm, hand dangling on the edge of the cushions. "Uh..." Did she like it dirty...? She didn't even think of it as something that wasn't an innocent thing to say until he backpedaled out of it. "Oh! Um, I like doing the more physical labor, I guess, keeps me in shape." She shrugged, then playfully reached over to take the beer out of his hand. Taking a small sip, she handed it back to him. "I hope you don't mind?"

Jax blushed full on red when she made the comment about being hot. Jesue Christ she heard me.. he thought, burying his face in the cushions. He nodded as she spoke about he work, and was only really half listening when she suddenly took his beer. "Why miss Withers I do believe you're under age," he said in a southern accent, not really caring whether or not she was drinking at age 20 or age 78. "I don't mind at all," he said through a laugh. "If you want your own you can have one," he added, inching closer to her.
It had been a long time since they'd been together.. A very long time since he'd even thought about her. Well, truthfully, he'd thought about her a lot. Almost every day. Hoping he'd stumble upon her. But he'd never really, deeply, intensely THOUGHT about her. Like he was now. Sure it had been so long ago that they'd kissed.. But its been said that you never forget your first kiss, right? Nor your first true love.

Leaning in, she laughed when he mentioned she was underage. "I do believe," she mimicked his Southern accent, as if she were a Southern belle, though. "You need to loosen up and let me take a sip of your beer every now in then." She knocked her shoulder against his gently, then just leaned on him, but not too much. She didn't put her head on his shoulder or hold his hand again, just slumped against him a little. "Besides, it doesn't matter," she dropped the accent. "I've never had more than a sip here and there."

"Well hey the best place to start is at a sip," he said slowly, taking the bottle back and taking a rather large gulp. "More?" he asked as he pushed the bottle back in her direction.
Jesus fucking fuckedy fuck she's leaning on me..
Jaxon wasn't quite sure what was going through his head. She was a long lost friend and he loved having her as company.. but there was this strange feeling of a sort of Romeo and Juliet love there as well. He felt like he shouldn't, because for some reason he couldn't, but felt like he wanted to.. Shouldn't what? Couldn't what? Wanted what? He had no idea. But there were little lead butterflies all over the inside of his stomach and it was making him queasy. Oddly enough.. this wasn't a bad sort of queasy.

Grinning, Naveah gripped the bottle instead of actually taking it, her fingers over top of his. Putting her mouth around the top, she guided his hand to tilt it back, chugging a little instead of just sipping. She wasn't sure why she did it that way; sort of just to be funny or something? Pulling away, she let go of his hand and the bottle, then leaned back against him. "You're right. A sip leads to a chug leads to you should probably get me my own." She nudged him with her elbow.
Why did she do that? She didn't even like the beer - it wasn't the greatest. She didn't normally even drink alcohol, or sip it, or chug it, which she had never done before. Blushing, she realized how stupid that must have been and sort of hid her face behind her hair. "I'm sorry, that was awkward I was just trying to be..." What, exactly? Funny? Flirty? "I don't know."

Jaxon was melting on the inside. Purely melting. "Ah.. I'll get you that beer then," he said standing up as she tried to explain herself. Taking his time to get to the fridge, he figured now was a good time to think over his relationship with Naveah.
For one, he had not seen her in years. It had legitimately been years since he'd even seen her face.
For another, they were never really a thing in high school.. right? I mean, what normal friends don't sit in their room for hours at a time making.. out...
Lastly, she probably had a boyfriend. I mean just look at the way she's been playing hard to get.
Before he knew it, Jaxon had walked into the fridge face first. "Fuck," he hissed under his breath as he opened the door and grabbed another beer for Naveah. "Did you want a different kind?" he asked, not taking his face out of the fridge as he dug around in the back. "I've got a couple different kinds," he said, pulling out an armful of about seven bottles. "I have no idea what they are.. but they're good."

Naveah wasn't paying attention to what Jaxon was doing. She was focused on trying to figure out why the hell she had acted that way, as if she were something sexy. She was never that flirty, not even with the boy she had made out with on a daily basis, all those years ago. Making out... She missed that, didn't she? She hadn't kissed a single person other than Jax, really... well, she had kissed one man... that was something entirely different. It was a planned kiss and she didn't feel anything and it hadn't been of her actual choosing. Kisses with Jaxon were real... they were whole, and bright, and they always made her feel like she swallowed the sun - or, that was how she remembered them. What would happen if she kissed him now? What would happen if she had a few more beers? What would happen if they did... more than kiss?
No, she wouldn't let herself think like that. Jaxon was her best friend long ago, yes, but now they were really back to square one. They had to take things slow; she couldn't kiss him, she couldn't fantasize about him, she couldn't do that without feeling like it wasn't right... so she couldn't drink. "You know what? Uh... never mind. I shouldn't drink, you're right. Uh, I won't drink anymore of your beers, I promise." She tried to laugh but it was hoarse and sounded kind of like a small choking cough.

Jaxon tilted his head to the side and frowned a bit as he gathered the bottles back up in his arms and put them back in the fridge. "If you say so," he said with a smile, finishing off his beer and tossing it in the recycling.
"Oh! I have something to show you!" he said abruptly, walking over to the couch and reaching his hand out for her to grab. "C'mere, you'll wanna see this," he said pulling her up and leading her towards the only enclosed area of his studio: his bedroom. Like he'd said earlier, all the lights from his dorm that had been hanging from the ceiling were above his bed now. And the last time she'd seen them, she'd spun around in pure joy and hey.. then they kissed.

Letting Jax lead her to whatever was behind the closed off space, she glanced around the apartment, silently chuckling at the fact that it was very similar in structure to her's. She also had a studio apartment, with just one brick wall instead of multiple, and a smaller kitchen, but it was almost uncanny how that worked out. However, her apartment wasn't so well furnished and, well, it looked like crap compared to his - but as to be expected when you live in the slums.
Following Jax behind the partition, she was in awe when she saw what he had wanted to see. The lights, almost exactly like he had them in his dorm. They all hung above his bed like little stars, and somehow, the way he had them now made it look even more impressive. Laughing, she spun around in a circle like she had so long ago, just looking up at the ceiling. "You have the best lighting system I've seen!" She stopped spinning and smiled at him, taking a seat on the edge of his bed. "So not everything has changed about me, or about you, too, it seems."

Jax let out a slight huff. "Oh I've changed quite a bit," he said, a sort of frown on his face as he thought about just how much he really had, and yet really hadn't changed. His past would never change.. what he'd done was done and it wasn't going away. But she didn't need to know.
Sitting down next to her, he smiled and sort of winked at her, not sure what else to do. "I've still got all my books too," he said. "They're just mostly in boxes now. Until I get some shelving." Looking down at his legs, he laughed. "Man last time I had you in my room.. we kissed," he looked up at her, a subtle smile crossing his lips.
