Damien watched Naveah lunging after the timer and couldn't help but laugh. It was cute, her being so goofy. It sort of reminded Damien of ... Well, of someone he didn't really want to think about. Damien stood up from the couch and wandered over whilst Naveah was looking through the fridge. Damien placed a hand on her shoulder, peering over her in to the fridge. 'I'll have a rootbeer', Damien replied standing up and going over to the food. It smelt even better now it was cooked.

Naveah grabbed a root beer for him, and a water bottle for herself. Ever since she gained the weight, that "freshman fifteen," people said they admired her figure. However, she wasn't used to having so much more fat and muscle on her body. Back in high school, she was skin and bones. Now look at her! Perfectly gorgeous, just a little uncomfortable. She lost that dancer's body and was paying for it in ways of balance - her feet had gotten clumsier, she swore by that. Sitting down at the table, and being hyper aware of not tripping, she handed him the can of root beer. "Dig in, man!" She laughed and opened up her water before taking a few sips.

Damien sat down, a little awkwardly, for some reason, determined to have one leg up on the seat with him. It was the way he always ate, sort of resting his chin on his knee. It didn't look comfortable, but to him, it was. 'Thanks', he smiled, once he'd gotten himself comfy, he tucked in to the food. Stabbing tiny pieces with his fork, he had never been a fast eater. 'This is really good, honestly I was kinda worried about the vegan thing, never had vegan lasagna before', he told her between tiny bites.

Naveah smiled when he said it was good. She was actually surprised he liked it - she didn't know how it would turn out. Thankfully, it wasn't burned and none of the ingredients were expired, so she considered that a plus. Not to mention it was all vegan and practically seventy five percent gluten free. She wasn't quite sure how she did it - she definitely couldn't repeat the recipe - but perhaps impressing him got her to make the right dish for once. "Thanks, I'm glad to hear you like it." She took a few small bites and smiled, happy that it tasted alright. "It's pretty healthy for you, too, less than one hundred calories." She grinned and leaned forward, happy to have someone to talk to - she hadn't seen Jaxon in days. "I'm on this new calorie diet. You have a calorie limit for every meal. 300 for breakfast, 200 for lunch, and 600 for dinner. It gets you through the day and keeps you slim." She nodded enthusiastically, as if backing her point.

Damien raised his eyebrows at her when she mentioned the diet. Then he looked down at himself. It was a blessing that he was stick thin. It was a miracle too, seeing as most of the stuff he ate was pure crap. Then again, he didn't eat that much, preferring to smoke or drink.
'I know this'll sound so cheesy, or whatever, but I think you look perfect, no need to diet', he smiled at her, pushing the remains of his food around the plate with his fork.

Naveah beamed at the compliment, accepting it graciously as she looked down at her lap and blushed. "Thanks," she murmured, her dark eyes bright and lips lifting into a smile. She forked a piece of lasagna, and popped it into her mouth. Chewing slowly, she swallowed and took a quick sip of water before pursing her lips in a half smile. "You're not to bad yourself!" She complimented, feeling the need to break the awkward silence and say something polite back. "I especially like that hair color. What inspired it?"

Damien felt himself blush, he set down his fork, having finished eating. 'Thanks', he grinned at her, then after mentioning his hair he ran his fingers through it. 'Um, I dunno really, I guess, when I first did it, no one else had bright red hair. So that's where the appeal came from, but now, everyone's got red hair, gonna dye it black next week', he replied. Damien glanced over at the couch, wishing he was back sat on it. No matter how many times he sat in this awkward position, he always got pins and needles.

Naveah smiled when he finished, and got up to take his plate and her own. She threw away the half piece of lasagna she hadn't eaten and wrapped up the rest of the dish in tin foil. Picking up the pan, she set it on the counter close to the fridge. "If you want some to take home, you can have it." She offered with a gracious grin. "I don't eat much of anything now a days, so it'll probably go bad here."
Noting the longing look he gave the couch, she wandered over to grab her water bottle from the table. "I like your hair red!" She exclaimed when he said he'd dye it black. "It's absolutely fabulous." She leaned over and teasingly pulled a strand of his hair gently, not to be rude but to be a joker. Then she winked. "I'm sure you get all sorts of attention for that, don't ya?" She sat down on the couch with a smile.

Damien looked up at her and smiled, he loved it when people played with his hair, 'Yeah, mostly the wrong sort of attention though', he sighed, standing up and stretching his legs. 'We live in the Bronx remember?', he smirked and walked over to the couch, sitting down. When he left the building, which was quite rare, he got no end of abuse hurled at him from strangers. That wasn't the reason he was dying it though, he'd never been one for caring what others say.

Naveah laughed when he mentioned being in the Bronx. She sometimes actually forgot they were living in the slums, really. She never spent time walking around the streets - she was too afraid to. Most of her days were spent near the upper sides of New York, like Manhattan and sometimes Brooklyn. Occasionally, she hung out on Staten Island, for the beaches they had there. Anywhere else, especially in the Bronx, was practically off limits in her mind. "I actually forget that, you know!" She giggled. "The Bronx is really not that dangerous when you're living inside your house and never out on the streets."

'You have a point there', Damien replied, he sat forward and rested his head on his hands, looking intently at her. 'You should be living somewhere really fancy', he stated then laughed, 'Sorry, that sounded weird, but, you shouldn't be living in the Bronx, you're so cute and innocent looking'. Damien wondered if he may have offended her a little, by saying she looked innocent. Was that something people were offended by?

Naveah blushed when he said that - cute and innocent looking? Well, it was mainly true. She was rather innocent, and very naive about the world around her. However, she wasn't completely clueless. "Thanks - uh, I guess I am kind of innocent - but I don't know about the cute factor." She laughed it off with a shrug of her shoulders. "I'd love to live somewhere fancy but I definitely don't have the cash for it. What about you? You look like a nice guy, so why are you stuck here, in the Bronx?"

'Oh I'm not stuck here', Damien replied, matter of factually, he gave her a mysterious smile, then laughed. 'I just, sort of like living in a scummy area, I don't want to brag but, I could afford better', Damien sighed, 'I grew up in what was a ... mansion, basically, and I have bad memories, so, here I am', he gave her a sad smile.

Naveah hadn't seen Jaxon in weeks, almost a full month. Not since their fun night together at his place, their first night together. It wasn't like they were out of touch - they called each other occasionally, sent a few emails a week - but Naveah had school and her various work assignments, and he had work and god knows what else that was going on in his life. She missed him, maybe even more than she had when he graduated high school, because he was actually here, a few blocks away, and she just couldn't see him because it wasn't in her schedule. After a while of not seeing him, she figured she had to find a way to make their paths collide. She invited him over to her dumpy little apartment, for a night of who-knows-what. Pacing around her little kitchen, she glanced at the door on occasion. He was coming over, and she didn't have anything planned, which made her a little nervous. She wasn't as reckless as she was back in high school - her days of suddenly running off with a guy and kissing in his dorm were over. Agitated, she knew he wasn't supposed to be there for another ten to fifteen minutes, and yet she couldn't stop walking around. She was excited to see him, of course, and a little nervous - she had no clue what they were going to do. What if she bored him? Her black strap heels clicked on the laminate heavily and she bit her lower lip. Was this too dressy, to stay inside? It was chilly out, but she had the heat turned up and was wearing black shorts and a long sleeved, flowy black blouse. It wasn't like she was trying to call attention to her legs (okay, maybe she was) but it wasn't going to get cold inside (or so she hoped) so the shorts were an okay choice. Wondering if she should change, she figured she was psyching herself out too much and sat down on the couch with her paperwork to fill out. She needed to finish up some homework, and if wandering around her apartment was going to make things worse, she figured she might as well do something productive while she waited. She had a pencil in her hand, but all she managed to do was twist her Batman-inspired ring (which was a new addition to her jewellry box) and wonder when he would get there. www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=62524562

It had been too long. Sure Jaxon was used to not seeing Naveah so much.. I mean, he'd gone a couple years without even thinking about her. But they were dating now, for Pete's sake. It wasn't right to just not go and visit. He knew she was busy, though, and never wanted to be a bother. He figured she'd just say "i'm doing homework" or "i've got another dig, come by later". Naturally, Jaxon always assumed the worst. Some boyfriend he was.
But now? Now he was walking down the hall to her door! Naveah had invited Jaxon over for romantic evening and it was a bit of an understatement to say he was excited. In fact, it was lucky for him that he could even remember how to put on clothing because his head was so high in the clouds. But alas, here he stood in a pair of dark wash jeans, a white v-neck and his black pea coat. On his feet were a pair of badly beaten black combat boots and a white beanie was flopping down the backside of his head. Wasn't he just the stylish little twit.
Why was he so nervous? This was his girlfriend! But he couldn't have been more nervous, really. Excited and nervous. What an odd pairing. It made his stomach churn and he wasn't sure if he was going to barf out his lunch or hearts and rainbows. Slowly, Jaxon raised his hand to the door and knocked forcefully with his knuckles. Suddenly, he really had to pee. "Oh fuck," he whispered as his hands instinctively covered his crotch and he began to hop back and forth from foot to foot. What a great way to greet your girlfriend.. "hi i have to pee".
