When Drake walked into the Central Perk with Carver holding onto his hand, he hadn't expected to run into Rosie. Which he did - literally. She had been walking back to the cash register when he bumped into her; he had been paying attention to Carver, who was asking a multitude of questions about random things, and didn't know Rosie was in front of him. He looked up to apologize and was surprised, immediately embarrassed.
"Rosie!" He exclaimed, a surprised smile upon his lips. He hadn't seen Rosie in years, really - not since high school. He had caught a glimpse of her around town but there was never the chance to talk to her. There was so much unresolved between them, he still didn't know what to say. "Hi, how are you?"

'Oh, excuse me, sorry', Rosie stammered, before looking up and realising just who had walked in to her. Drake. Well this was awkward. Or was it? Rosie wasn't sure. Nervously she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and tried to compose herself.
'Hi Drake, I'm okay thanks, you?', she tried her best to act natural, but her heart was racing, and her cheeks were flushed. Though if questioned about it she'd put it down to the busy coffee shop, and her having to rush around. 'And this must be Carver right?', Rosie grinned down at the little girl, 'Hi!'.

Drake smiled slightly, hiding how awkward he was feeling. He hadn't seen Rosie forever and... she was looking beautiful. He could remember every detail from the day he told her he loved her and for a moment, he let his mind wander to think of what would have happened between them, had he not married Serena... "Uh, I'm great, good to see you. Yeah, this is Carvs." He tugged on her hand for her attention and quickly signed "Introduce yourself." to her. The little girl let go of her father's hand and slowly signed "My name is Carver." then smiled at Rosie, and back up at her father. Drake looked at Rosie with a sort of pained expression. He was used to people thinking Carver was weird or disabled or abnormal. Just because she had a hearing disability didn't mean she was disabled, however. "She was born deaf." He explained. "I asked her to introduce herself."

Rosie only knew the sign language alphabet, so after pointing at herself she spelled out Rosie and gave Carver a little wave. 'She's adorable, looks like her mom', Rosie commented, turning her attention back to Drake. There was a wedding ring on his finger, and she assumed they were married now. Well, good for them. Good for Carver, she had her parents. 'So are you wanting some coffee, I'm actually about to finish, but I can make you what you want first', she smiled, backing up a little so she was behind the counter.

Drake lifted the corners of his mouth into a smile when she mentioned that Carver looked like her mom. She did, really, but he never paid attention to it. "She might look like her mom, but she takes after me in attitude," he laughed, ruffling Carver's hair. "She'll spend the whole day down at the race track with me, making bets, even. She's rough and tough, this one." He fake punched her in the shoulder and she tried to pummel him with her tiny fists until he signed for her to stop, please.
"Sure, I'll take a..." He looked at the menu. "A cold mocha latte for me, and..." he looked at Carver and signed "What do you want from the menu?" She replied, and he turned back to Rosie, picking Carver up to carry her towards the register. "She wants an iced banana smoothie."

'Okay, good choice', Rosie replied, smiling as she went away to make their drinks. So far the 'keeping cool' thing was going pretty well. Drake had probably forgotten all about their time in High School. Serena and him probably had a beautiful house and went on vacation and had fun family times. Rosie sighed to herself, pouring the two drinks in to cups. What did she have?
Rosie put down the drinks on the counter, 'No need to pay, I didn't have any drinks on my break today, so you're okay', she smiled, as she untied her apron.

"No, I can't not pay," Drake handed Carver her drink and took as sip of his own. "If you insist on that system of payment, at least let me give you a rather large tip." He laughed and handed her a twenty dollar bill, smiling. "Since you're off work now... do you want to go sit down?"

Rosie almost refused the tip, but didn't, and took it from him with a grateful smile. While she wasn't poor or anything like that, she wasn't rich enough to just turn down twenty dollars. Besides, those drinks were good, she deserved a tip.
'Yeah sure, that'd be nice', Rosie replied, grabbing her bag and jacket from under the counter. Well, she didn't have much to get home to, apart from the cat, and he was quite an independent character.
'So, what've you been doing with yourself?', Rosie asked, sitting down on one of the couches.

Drake sat next to Rosie on the couch and told Carver to go look at the magazines and play. The shop was empty except for them, so he knew she would be safe. "What I've been doing?" Drake chuckled. "You won't believe this - or maybe you will - but I have my own mechanics garage and I race for NASCAR and other racing types, car number 714. Oh, and I manage a horse jockey, that brings in some cash..." He paused. "I've been getting lucky, that's what I've been doing."
He smiled and put a hand on her knee, grinning. She was still so beautiful and... well the coffee was excellent. "My wife and I are happy, in an open relationship, content with the money we have and the daughter we love... Everything is going well with me. So how about you?"

'I always imagined you doing something with cars', Rosie grinned, happy to hear he was doing so well. It wasn't like she knew much about cars, or Nascar, but she'd heard of it, so it was obviously something big. Maybe Drake was kind of famous in the racing world now, that'd be cool. Dexxie, Matt, Danny and Javen were all in a famous band. Was Rosie the only person from Foxhurst who wasn't successful?
When Drake mentioned 'open marriage', Rosie nearly chocked on her water. What? Really? Serena had agreed to that?! Brushing it off Rosie decided to stop being weird, and respond to Drake's question. 'Well I moved back home for a bit after School. Got a job in a coffee shop there. Kind of just messed around for a couple years. Then came back here, got a cat', Rosie laughed, 'Not a really exciting story is it?'.

"Not every story can be as exciting as Bonnie and Clyde, right Rosie?" Drake said quietly. Mentioning Bonnie and Clyde was bringing up that conversation they had back in high school and he honestly wanted to know what went wrong. Where had they stopped talking? When did he forget the girl he loved first? Whatever happened to running away together, the most fearsome couple in the world?

Rosie laughed softly, 'Not quite, no', she replied quietly. What had happened to that dream? Running away. Rosie guessed that it was just a fantasy. Not a chance of it happening now. No they had jobs, Drake had a family. Still, she could continue to dream. Rosie turned her attention to Carver, watching her play. Was this something she wanted? A child. Maybe that's what her life was lacking. Everyone else had them.

"Rosie..." Drake didn't know what to say. When she looked away, off towards Carver, his heart sort of sank. What if Serena hadn't have had Carver? What if this had been Rosie's daughter instead? Would they have had a life together, if they had really run away that day? "I'm sorry about... you know, not keeping in touch..."

'Well, I didn't exactly make it easy for you to', Rosie replied, smirking a little. After High School she'd gotten out of there as fast as she could. Desperate to leave everything behind. It was a split minute decision. The thought of people keeping in touch hadn't even crossed her mind.
'Anyway, I mean, we're here now, that's all that matters', she tried to sound cheerful, something that didn't quite suit her. 'I'm not mad at you for not staying in touch, if you're not mad at me for leaving'.

"Then its agreed we wont be mad at each other." He smiled. What should he say now? What was there to say, even? He had just made friends again with the girl he still, somehow, deep inside... had feelings for. Breathtaking as always, Rosie was something special to him, his first love... but Serena was in his heart, now, and Carver, and the baby they were expecting. What was he to do?
