Fuck it.
"No, I'm not." The angel on his right was smiling while the devil on the left was stomping around. He didn't have to destroy the wall, but taking off a few inches from the top wouldn't hurt Andrew. He and Beth had been engaged for Pete's sake! Why shouldn't you trust her? She's never done anything but nice things for you. She's put up with you and dealt with your issues and hell, she loved you! Why would you throw that away? Are you insane, Andrew?
"I'm not happy about it Beth. I wanted to be with you. I.. I have my issues. You know I can't trust people. And you're like the only person who knows why I can't really trust people. I can't believe I've let you get away, and I'm incredibly happy that somehow you found your way back to me this morning. I know I don't deserve it, but Elizabeth Hanson," He said, climbing off of his chair and kneeling down in front of Beth, "Will you give me another chance?" He took her hand in his, and would have presented the ring he'd given her before if he'd had it with him.

Another chance? Heart shaped pancakes, crappy late night movies, making love to said crappy late night movies, it was all coming back to Elizabeth and she didn't know how she was going to say no to him. "Yes! Yes! I will give you another chance." She stood from her chair and placed herself on his lap which felt odd but right like it was always meant to be this way.
Wait....
Another chance at a relationship like picking things off where they left off or like starting over? She kissed him once and didn't want to stop but alas all good things (even kisses) must eventually come to an end. "Do you want to come back to my apartment?" She mused suddenly, was she coming onto him?
Sexually?
They just made up! She didn't even know exactly what they were as of yet!

Andrew beamed, and lifted Beth up and back to her seat, before returning to his own and smiling at the people that had abandoned their breakfasts to see the happy.. couple?.. reunite. Were they a couple? Or.. Fuck. He really hadn't thought it through very well. Were they engaged again? Dating? Married? Friends with benefits? They had been so many things over the years, what were they starting over as?
That could wait. Beth wanted to go back to her apartment, and was that something he should say no to? Probably not. "Let's go," He said, placing a ten on the table, since they had only had coffee in the time they had been there together. He led her to a cab and let her give the address of her place, even though he remembered it. He paid for the fare, and helped Beth out of the cab. Figuring out what they were could wait until... later.

The cab ride was quiet but Elizabeth didn't really mind since it gave her the opportunity to decide what she was willing to be and what she absolutely refused to accept. She would not be friends with benefits again, it just wouldn't work. Could they date again? Pretend that the engagement didn't happen or go back to being engaged and pretend that the break up didn't happen? She knew that he knew the way to her apartment but she still lead him to the door after they got out of the cab and stepped in after he did.
This was so much like before.
Her apartment still looked the same, hell, it even smelled the same like vanilla cupcakes. She didn't think that anything had really changed except the fact that she no longer had his pictures up anywhere. "Are you thirsty or hungry? We didn't eat at Denny's so...." She had every intention of keeping her clothes on but he looked so good!

Andrew followed Beth along the familiar route to her apartment. He used to spend more time here than his own home, so it was nothing new. This time, however, something was different. They weren't walking close together, they weren't holding hands, and they were quiet. It was.. well, weird. Unusual. Awkward. Mostly because Andrew was still deciding what he wanted to be.
"I'm not really hungry, but I could probably eat." Andrew shrugged. Truth be told he was starving, but there were other things on his mind. He took a seat on the loveseat and kicked his shoes off. It was still homey and comfortable in the home; Andrew just wished it was the same as before.
"Beth, can we.. talk?" He asked, hoping to figure this out.

Elizabeth grabbed two breakfast pastries from the kitchen before heading over to him and sitting down at his side on the love seat, "Here, eat this while we talk." She smiled as she handed him the apple danish. She couldn't believe how different that things were now; she was sitting as far away from him as possible and it almost felt wrong to break the distance and cuddle which was typically the first thing that she did.
She took a small bite of her pastry before looking away from him as if the magazine on her coffee table was suddenly the most interesting thing in the world. Okay, she needed to know.
"But, Andrew, I need to know.... What do you want to be with me? Dating? Engaged again? Run away and get married?"

Andrew bit into the pastry nervously. She knew all his weaknesses! Apple pastries, trust, blonde hair, and there were a few others he didn't want to think about right now. Not the time. He sighed and put the pastry on the table, running his hands through his hair anxiously. Now she's reading your mind, Andrew. Stop. Just be with her. You know you're miserable without her in your life. His mind was telling him everything he wished he could actually say to Beth, but for some reason, it didn't feel like what needed to be said.
"I was going to ask you the exact same thing, Beth." He sighed. "It's been, what.. four months since we broke it off? I mean, that sounds like a long time, but I know I didn't forget about you for even a minute. You haven't left my mind once, and I can't see myself calling you my 'girlfriend'. You've been my fiancee for 2 months before we broke it off, and I think six months sounds a hell of a lot better than none."
Andrew stopped himself, realizing he'd been rambling. Scooting closer and placing a hand on Elizabeth's knee, he said, "I want to marry you, Bethy. I want to tell everyone about how our wedding plans are going and how happy I am with my fiancee..." Andrew let his voice trail off, waiting to see what Elizabeth had to say.

Things will be just like they were before.
Elizabeth smiled at the realization but she couldn't get her mouth to open to say the words that she wanted so badly to say; how much that she loved him, how unhappy that she had been during their break but none of those things would fit just yet so she said the one thing that she could manage. The words rolled off her tongue easily like warm syrup on buttermilk pancakes, "Yes, I would love to be your fiancee again."
How did they get to this again? She placed her own pastry down and fully intended on just kissing him on the cheek but her lips had a mind of their own as they found his with ease then his neck... Like the old days and she was shifting towards his lap once again. Could they do this? Could they go back to being like this?
"I missed doing this, Andrew..... All of this." She meant other things, too.

Andrew bit his lip when Beth kissed his neck. He missed her, he missed this, he missed everything. To him, it was like nothing happened. The fight didn't happen, and he never left her alone, he never took the ring back, nothing. And this time, Andrew had fully intended to trust Elizabeth, fully, completely, one hundred percent.
Welcoming her into his lap, Andrew kissed Beth back, but pulled away after a minute, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. "Beth.." He breathed, a faint smile on his lips. "I love you, and I really missed you," He smiled fully now, looking at her.
He didn't want to push Beth away. He wanted to trust her. Being away from her made him realize how comfortable he was around her and how much she meant to him. Beth brought out his good side and made him a happier person in general. In all honesty, they needed each other. It wasn't just love, or desire, or lust that kept them together. They needed each other to continue on.

"I missed kissing you...." Elizabeth paused so she could kiss him just once on the lips for half a second, "I missed running my fingers through your hair...." she paused once more to do so; she continued this for a couple more innocent physical things before finally stopping and looking up at him with an affectionate expression. "But most of all, I missed loving you and being loved by you. You've made me realize how amazing that it feels to be with someone like this and to open up completely." She'd been so scared of this but now it didn't seem like so big of a deal.
They were getting married.
It was just meant to be like this, wasn't it? You can delay it but destiny will always sweep in and make sure that everyone is where they need to be. "Do you want to..... Take this to my bed?"

Andrew smiled as she kissed him, ran her fingers through his hair, along his chest - All the little things she used to do. He enjoyed it, and then ran his own fingers through Beth's hair. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but I really want to open up to you more, Beth. I know I didn't before, and I know I couldn't trust you before. I need you to know it wasn't anything you did, it was just me and my past and my brain being stupid. But now, I'm definitely going to try a million times harder, I promise." Andrew took her left hand and kissed her ring finger, where her ring would be. "I'll be sure to give you the ring back, baby," He smiled at her.
To her bed? Andrew was never one to say no to a girl practically giving herself to him, especially not Elizabeth. There were all kinds of things that girl could do. "Let's go," Andrew said, for the third time today. Things were settling back into place, and nothing could be better right now.

"I know that it wasn't you, I'm a therapist, remember?" Elizabeth asked with a teasing grin as she stood up from his lap and took his hand so she could lead him to her bed, thank goodness for studio apartments! Everything was so close together! She didn't mean to kiss him like she was this desperate ball of hormones but somehow it happened the second that they were on her bed. She just couldn't help herself!
It felt like things were like they use to be and they'd never taken a break. She just couldn't believe that this was happening.
She was getting her ring back! She felt so strange looking at her finger after they broke up because it just felt so naked. Her ring was the only accessory that she needed.

Andrew smiled and followed Beth on the short walk to her room. Her apartment was pretty small, but it was perfect for her, and him when he was there. Sex wasn't exactly on Andrew's mind at the moment, but he wasn't one to turn her away. He was really just thinking about how lucky he was to have run into Elizabeth at the park, and to have invited her to Denny's, and how their engagement is back on, and how he's back here in her apartment. Really, Andrew was just happy. He felt on top of the world, happy to have his fiancee back.
He kissed her back and it felt good. Not that weird, horny good, but that genuine good feeling. He was kissing his fiancee, the only girl he really loved besides his little sister.

Where was this going?
Elizabeth honestly didn't know what she wanted from this; did she want to have sex with Andrew or did she want to wait until their wedding night so it would be special? She was letting out tiny gasps of desire but she still pulled away from him. "Andrew, we should.... we should wait until we're married so it's more passionate because we went without, you know?" She wanted their honeymoon to be special and this was really the only way considering that they couldn't go back in town and be virgins again.
Right?
She was giving him an apologetic expression, "I hope that you're okay with that, sweetie." She didn't want him to be angry at her when things were just getting good again!

Andrew groaned when Elizabeth stopped, and he flopped onto the bed on his back. They had sex about a million times already, what made her want to stop now? "Really?" He said, a little frustrated, but not mad. "You know 'saving yourself' doesn't really do much if we've been having sex the past five years." He said, trying not to be rude. I mean, maybe he wasn't exactly in the mood for sex right then, but he didn't want to not have any at all for months.
"If it's what you really want, I mean, I can't just say no, Beth. I just think it's a little ridiculous." He hoped he didn't sound mean. Fighting was really not what he was going for after finally making everything right again.
