A chuckle escaped Mark before hugging her tightly. He closed his eyes and smiled brightly. This felt much better. His mind wasn't occupied on confusion or complex thoughts. Just right here and now. It was different, though. Elaine was going to have his baby — as ghetto as it sounded. He was her baby daddy but... He'd really love to be more than that.
Maybe with a little more time, Elaine would learn to see him more than a friend. But what did she see him as that morning? He got to thinking, leaning his head lightly on top of her head. He took in the scent of her hair as he stood quiet for a second before raising an eyebrow.
"No wonder you get along with them critters. Crikey!" Mark backed away from her and looked down to her eyes. He knew that her eyes were two perfect orbs of darkness but he loved messing with her. "Look! There goes that one..." he moved his finger to the left over one of them before moving his other to the right.

Elaine laughed—really laughed, like eyes tearing and running out of breath laughing—as Mark poked fun at her eyes. She slapped his hands away playfully. "Stop, you're confusing my eyeballs!" Even after so much time apart, Mark would never let her live down her 'chameleon' eyes and quite frankly, the thought of having to deal with it everyday for the rest of her life didn't bother her at all.
She and Mark were the best of friends and there was no doubt that they loved each other, but instead of a smooth transaction from friends to lovers, Elaine's pregnancy placed them in that awkward gray area right in between. She hoped that it was something that they could clear up somehow and the sooner the better, despite her own mixed feelings.
"Should we tell anyone or should we wait?" she asked, plopping down on her couch. Elaine didn't have very many people to tell, just her family and possibly Kenix, but he would find out from Mark anyway.

Mark was laughing pretty hard too, he loved that Elaine didn't take his jokes to heart because it wouldn't be the same if she did. He continued laughing before he said, "My bad." he patted her face gently before he looked to her as she sat down on the couch.
His feelings were there they've been there. They're so old that they are probably going to be one hundred years old or something. Mark was just waiting for Elaine to say yeh and then signed, sealed delivered he was hers. He was basically her's already which made it obvious or else they would be in Maury.
That ain't ma baby!
Mark smiled at the thought as he shifted his eyes to Elaine then forward before crossing his arms over his chest. He then said, "Well, my mom is going to be super happy and my dad will too. You know them, they're incredibly jolly. Can you imagine them in Christmas?" Mark could compare his friendship to his parents relationship. They both loved to make fun at one another but they've been together for so long.
That was what Mark wanted. A partner who would laugh with you and at you not just at you or with you. Both. It may have been strange how two friends had a child together but Elaine was never really just a friend in Mark's eyes. So it made sense didn't it?
"And then there's Kenix, Esme and Riley oh! Keisha!" Mark said how could he forget the girl who was like a mother to him. Bless her soul. "She's in Harvard!" And the only one who ever gave her her blessing on his crush on Elaine. If both his actual and fake mom accepted Elaine then what was he doing?
In the wise words of Beyonce...
He needed to put a ring on that.

It made her heart flutter to hear how welcome their baby was. Kenix would be more surprised that they "did the nasty" than by the pregnancy itself and even though she rarely spoke to Riley and Keisha, she knew they were happy if Mark was happy. Oh, imagine the look on Esme's face when she found out! Elaine had nothing against Esme, but truth me told, she was a little overwhelming at times. Still, she was just very protective of her friends and that wasn't always a bad thing.
Mark's family was a blast. She'd only met them a handful of times but they were sweet as sugar and funny, too. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, they say. As for her own family, Elaine's mother and father would just assume that Mark was the boyfriend she'd been telling them about and any attempts to clarify it would just confuse them even more.
"Harvard? Oh my, wow!" Elaine had always dreamed of leaving New York, not that it wasn't an adequate place to call home, but she wanted to see the rest of the world too. If she could magically find the money and time, she would plan a road trip across the 49 states (because you can't drive to Hawaii. Maybe.).
To say that Elaine was not attracted to Mark was just not true. Despite the fact that she never even considered making a move, she did take note whenever he looked especially handsome. Come to think of it, there was even a secret fangirl base in her mind, she just never acted on it.

Mark knew their baby was going to be welcomed like the extra fab prince or princess she or he was. He then looked to Elaine for a second before widening his eyes. He kept that look on his face as if wondering what she was thinking about. It was one of the things he did when she was around. "Also Aubrey, who will beam like the sun itself. He loves children, it's obvious right? He has a ton." Last Christmas, Mark spent over a thousands bucks in presents for all the kids. It explained why his apartment was a sanctuary for forgotten toys of his friends kids. Although nowadays, Mark had to tell the kids to be a little careful considering that his old baby girl, Daisy wasn't feeling her best. "And Leonardo." Leonardo would probably be proud of Mark for having kids — finally. The guy was such a good child caretaker (although he worked with pets most) it was a wonder why he didn't have some of his own.
Mark smiled brightly to her then shrugged, "She was smart. She probably wasn't even surprised about being accepted." he rose an eyebrow as he looked forward before made an imitation of Keisha, "I accepted them to have me." he moved his head in a sassy little manner before laughing. Mark actually planned on leaving New York. He was supposed to go to Chicago to study law and become a politician and save the world from all the disruption and disorder — but he became uninspired.
"Do you have any names in mind?" Mark thought that naming the baby wasn't even half as hard as giving birth to it. Still, most people made it seem as if it was such a hard job help me Jesus what shall my child's name be.

Elaine smiled as Mark listed out his friends and family one by one. He had far many more acquaintances than she did and some of the names rang a bell, but she couldn't match the name to an actual face for the life of her. So many people to tell and every one of them would be supportive. She truly did not deserve any of this. Elaine knew that it seemed like she was just jumping from one guy to the next, but she could care less what the others thought about her. She only hoped that Mark didn't think of her that way.
She went into another fit of laughter when Mark did his spot-on impression of Keisha. "And you? Have you accepted any colleges?" They were a pair of smart kids and Elaine knew Mark had big dreams, career-wise. She, on the other hand, found her passion in the arts and even though the pay wasn't great now, she would be all set once she could open up her own shop.
"Really, Mark?" she asked sarcastically, reminding him that it was just this morning when Elaine discovered she was with child. Where would she have found the time to think of baby names? "Just kidding," she quipped. "Um... it's hard when we don't know if it'll be a boy or a girl..." Elaine actually had no idea when the gender could be determined. Was it four months? Maybe it was three? Maybe they could go now!

Mark didn't know whether it was permitted for him to take her hands but she looked so happy. He just needed to assure her that everything was going to be okay. That he was there for her and for the baby. So, he did take her hands and he looked to her as she spoke.
His facial expression changed slightly, almost as if cringing at her question. Mark was going to be honest with her and maybe it may disappoint her. "I was accepted into Columbia... Harvard accepted me but I had to decline because there was no point of me going to university with no inspiration." It was one of those moments where Mark felt like banging his head against the wall but instead of doing that he gently laid it upon her shoulder.
Mark looked up at her then smiled gently.
"You can always think of names for both genders." Mark suggested with an ever-so-endearing grin as he looked up at her. He rose both eyebrows then interlocked their fingers as he looked up to her. "Usually mothers can feel the gender of their babies... Although sometimes their wrong... What do you think the gender is? Boy, girl... Unless..." Dramatic pause, "The baby a zombie." he said this all too logically.

It made her feel all warm inside to see Mark be so affectionate towards her. Then again, it could just be hot flashes from her pregnancy, just saying. Nevertheless, Elaine was a little excited to start their new life together. Boy, if they two of them hadn't been friends forever, that would've sounded a little creepy.
She raised her eyebrows in curiosity concerning Mark and his college situation. Uninspired? How? Elaine decided not to pry and figured that he would tell her if it were really important to him. Maybe his change in plans was a good thing, not unlike her own 'change' in plans. After all, they say one door closes so another one can open, or something like that. Maybe a window opened instead.
"Names for both genders as in names like Alex and Sam? Or do you mean some manly boy names and some girly girl names?" she teased. It would be interesting to have to explain to your child that their parents picked a unisex name because you know, just in case. "I mean, there was only a 50 percent chance that you were a boy, Sam, honey," Elaine held her hands up, palms facing up and shrugged innocently.
Elaine closed her eyes and pretended to meditate. At first, she really did concentrate to see if she could have some mother-baby connection and find out the gender, but in reality she didn't feel squat. "Ah, yes. Zombie baby is craving brains!" she roared, moving to hold Mark's head between her hands.
ooc: Yeah, I went there, Alex! >:]

A laugh escaped Mark as he kept his head gently lying on Elaine's shoulder. Unisex names were great but Mark would like for them to ponder on a name for both genders. Who knew how many there could be in there? "You are the cleverest alpaca I have ever met and I have met plenty." he said in between a chuckle. "Let's think of a boy and girl name — the two of us!" he suggested excitedly.
This was definitely comfortable. Mark enjoyed these silences and conversations. Even while naming a baby the conversation was interesting. How was it possible that he was even looking forward to have a baby? Mark didn't want children but somehow one with Elaine made him — extremely hopeful and happy.
When Elaine moved his head to face her, he smiled like a fool. "A zombie huh? Because the mommy is a brain eater!" Mark exclaimed softly before moving his arms around her waist. "The baby won't find anything here then." he shifted his eyes up to the top of his head while he continued to grin like a fool.

"So you're saying you're seeing other alpacas besides me?" Elaine exclaimed, pretending to be deeply hurt by Mark's alpaca-promiscuity. "You're just like the rest of them," she whispered dramatically, crossing her arms over her chest like she was angry. "And you can forget about the sweater that I was growing for you for Christmas," Elaine finished with a 'hmph.'
Being with Mark gave her a sense of security and calmness, especially since she was so terrified to see the positive pregnancy test results. Although she was at peace at the moment, Elaine knew that the further along she was, the more difficult it would be. Don't even get her started on actually giving birth. Why did it have to be painful? Elaine had an irrational fear of pain. It's so bad that she cringes at the mere thought of a paper cut.
She looked down at Mark. It was such a sweet sight to see him so close to their child, even if he or she wasn't even big enough to begin showing. "You're darn tootin' there's nothing in there. I can see right through your ears to the other side! There's nothing there!" Elaine lightly knocked on his head as if it were a door.

"Oh baby, don't be mad." Mark shook his head quickly while his eyes widened to the size of saucers. "I would never cheat on you, ever." he sighed, sticking his bottom lip out in a pout. Tis was true, Mark could never have a girlfriend after that day. It wouldn't feel the same. Now he understood why Aubrey was such a fail with women while separated from Caroline. He could never be in bed and moan someone's else's name that would be entirely disrespectful. "I love it when you grow me sweaters, you know that. You have the finest fur in the barn!" he petted her weave.
He was smiling so much his eyes had this little glow to them and his smile looked ever so genuine. Mark had no idea how he was going to be when Elaine would become demanding and grouchy like those women in those baby shows his mom used to watch. But, he would make her anything her little heart — and cravings desired. "Hey, Elaine..." he said as he continued petting her but more gently now. "Are you going to ask for pickles dipped in peanut butter or marshmallow cream and French fries?" he asked this very seriously.
Mark then opened his mouth, faking to be shocked. "Don't listen to her, little weird looking three month old. Your mom is crazy." he spoke down to her stomach before knitting his eyebrows.
Did he just talk to a three month old embryo?
Mark laughed almost embarrassed about doing so. He'd never done such a thing. If Leo or Aubrey saw him they would be mind-flocked.

Elaine did a weird smile-frown as she tried to stifle her laughter. Finest fur in the barn? Where did he even come up with these things? "Don't touch it, you'll make my tracks show," she scolded him. In all honesty, Elaine had no idea what it meant to have your tracks show, but she overhead a conversation concerning gossip about another girl's hair and felt that it was appropriate to use now. His pouting face was just so ridiculous that she just had to burst into laughter.
She stared at him, blinking slowly as if Mark had just asked her the dumbest question in the world. "Ew, that's really gross, but don't give me any ideas. They say cravings and get really weird and I just, no," she shook her head. Elaine was hoping she could get by these next six or so months without eating anything that was normally not a part of her diet, like pig's feet or something.
Smiling, she ran a hand through Mark's hair. She could imagine him talking into her tummy when she was several more months along and the baby could actually hear their mommy and daddy talking. How cute would that be? "You're the cray one, alien baby can't hear sounds yet," Elaine muttered, rolling her eyes. Then, her stomach growled and she blushed bright red since Mark was right there next to it. Come to think of it, she hadn't had breakfast today.

"Hush now, you're not a train." Mark hushed her while he continued petting her and looking to her face. He tilted his head to the side as he looked to the features of her face. Well, she wasn't so bad looking — pretty face, nice complexion and somewhat exotic. Let's face it, Mark thought she was be-a-u-ti-ful. He would have put a brown paper bag over her head if she wasn't. Just kidding, it was the personality.
"I just had those two ideas all the others ones you think of will be strictly your fault." There was a contract for that. Mark then turned his head away slightly as he thought for a second. "Hopefully you won't ask for something like fillet mignon or caviar. It tastes so bad I don't know why people call it fancy food it should be called nasty ass food for the rich white folk." he put a disgusted look on his face. "Why is seafood considered fancy? Like have you ever actually seen a French talking fish I don't think so." he put an upside down frown.
Mark then rose an eyebrow. It reminded him of three months ago, she was talking about breakfast and they had lunch instead. "Hopefully this time we'll actually finish making breakfast..." he snickered. What it was funny like now they have a child because they decided to make one instead of pancakes.

Elaine watched as Mark studied her face and tried to do the same, except she was only looking at one particular spot on his face. "Stop staring at me, your caterpillar eyebrows are creeping me out," she said, raising her index fingers up to her eyebrows and wiggling them like a caterpillar would.
"Seafood is good! I like seafood!" she objected. "Like sushi. But not the raw kind. No bueno," Elaine shook her head the way a child would when offered some sort of vegetable, like brussel sprouts. She liked all her meats nice and cooked. Even her steaks were medium well, but only because well-done was too dry. "What, you mean you've never met my floormate, Pepe le Guppy?" she asked, pointing to the front door. "He's such a fancy fish, he only swims in sparkling water!"
She blushed an even deeper shade of red when Mark made a reference to the conception of their baby. Elaine had only vaguely remembered the happenings of the night before, but the following morning was crystal clear. It made her embarrassed to think that she and her very best friend did such a thing, but she couldn't lie—it was pretty amazing.
"What are you in the mood for? Pancakes? Waffles? Eggs and bacon?" she asked, poking him on the forehead. "I'm starting to think you only want me to move in so I can cook for you," Elaine narrowed her eyes in a suspicious and accusing manner.

When Elaine pointed out Mark's rather full eyebrows, he wiggled them then rose one as high as he could muster. He moved it up and down as he squinted the other eye. "How's this for creepy?" he then came in closer as if he were a monster in a horror movie.
"We're going to need to buy you a psychologist, honey." Mark said as he stood up before taking her hands. "There is no such thing!" he said as if she were serious.
Mark then widened his eyes, "Elaine you're positively red!" he said with a gasping tone before moving a hand to her forehead. "And you're burning hot." he widened his eyes before chuckling. Obviously, he knew why she was blushing but he was just messing with her.
"How about them pancakes?" he smiled brightly as he moved his hands away from her face and helped her up. He then shook his head, he widened his eyes as if he were accused of murder - defamation! "No! Why would I want you to live with me to cook for me?" he then twitched his upper lip.
"I actually want you to wash my car. I don't like doing it myself." Mark nodded as a matter of fact. "Something about cars and soap... It's just a creepy... I don't know, creepy smell."
