I didn't know where else to put this and I do what I want sooo yeah. Raine and Elliot had already looked through two houses on Staten Island only to be left feeling less than pleased with their options. The first one was way too big and just old like molding old and she was terrified of the upstairs because it sounded like they were going to fall through the creaky old floor.
The second house was alright but she just didn't feel like it was going to be their future home... She couldn't imagine them bringing home their baby or making memories there as a family. She was feeling like this whole search was hopeless as they drove up to house number three but the outside... She was immediately impressed. She could picture them driving up in nine or so months with their newborn in the backseat and then having parties... It was just so perfect.
She glanced over to Elliot as she stepped out of the car but she didn't wait for him before she ran up to the front door to look inside of the house. She was so excited! The musky old smell in the house was horrifying and she felt a little nauseous but it wasn't anything that she couldn't handle especially as she opened up one of the windows. She could definitely see this place being their future home - the house that they would raise their daughter... or son but hopefully not son.
She had a little bag of goldfish crackers in her hand which she was snacking on while she explored the old place, it needed some work but it wasn't too terrible and she figured that renovating it would really make it their home and not just some house.

The first two houses they had looked at weren't too great once you went inside. The first one, he got a creepy vibe from. It was old and honestly, a bit scary. There was no way in hell that he would want to raise his family there. The second house was much better, but it just didn't scream home to them, especially Raine. She had one last house to look at today, and as they pulled into the driveway, Elliot's first reaction was home..
Not here, home, but Brentwood, home. It actually reminded him a lot of his parents house, only smaller more rocky. He could tell how excited it made Raine by the way she jumped out of the car and ran inside. They had called the Realtor earlier who was already inside. As Raine explored the area, he was greeted by Mrs. Felson. "You must be Mr. and Mrs. Gates, yes?" The short, somewhat chunky woman asked. Elliot smiled and liked the sound of that, but corrected her. "Not Mr. and Mrs. yet, unfortunately." The woman nodded as he continued on, "This place is absolutely wonderful! It will be brilliant with a little personal touch. Can you tell me some things about it? Raine was the once who found it, so I know nothing."
The woman walked around as he followed, listening attentively. "This house was built in 1930 and built well, might I add." Mrs. Felson laughed. "It has three bedrooms, two with a conjoined bathroom, one large master bedroom with it's own full sized bathroom and a his and her walk in closet. There is a full basement was previously used as a small pub." The basement was amazing, something he would love to keep but knew Raine wouldn't care for. He'd redo the bar, and turn it into a family oriented man cave.
They walked back up to the main floor as she continued speaking, "The schools are fantastic, the neighbors are all extremely friendly, some with their own small infants. I'm sure you guys would love that." Elliot smiled at the thought of their baby having a playmate next door. He could picture the whole place redone and looking fantastic. He spotted Raine and called her over, intertwining his fingers with hers. "What do you think, love? It's surely big enough, and Mrs. Felson says the neighborhood is a dream." He looked at his beautiful mommy-to-be and saw the excitement on her face.

Raine was already in love with the house even if it was old and needed work. She gripped his hand a little tighter and lead him up the stairs since they hadn't actually looked up there yet and she felt like it was important for them to see the room that could someday be their daughter's... Why was she so sure that it was a girl in the first place? The fact that the room had a connecting bathroom with another one was kind of sad, what if their child felt lonely because she was destined to be an only child? She shook the thought from her head and explored the room, "This is going to be Faith's room.... Just picture her name on this wall and a crib right here and her little outfits in the closet."
She couldn't imagine them having anything other than a daughter named Faith which was a tad bit controlling on her part but in her defense, she was giving birth to it so her poor vagina was going to end up suffering. Childbirth looked painful! She'd actually been there when James's ex-wife had the twins and it didn't look fun at all. She let out a small sigh as she looked out the window, "This place is so perfect but there's no way that we can afford it.. It's a pipe dream and I think we'll just need to settle for house number two or keep looking or even an apartment... I mean... we don't need to live in my dream house for me to be happy."
She didn't want him to feel like she was going to be too terribly disappointed when they didn't end up moving into this house given the price and everything. She didn't make much and he was a substitute teacher so she knew he couldn't make that much either...

Elliot followed her up the stairs. He imagined everything she was saying, and it tugged on his chest. He couldn't help but smile when she mentioned that they couldn't afford it. He had clearly done a great job hiding the fact that they could afford it. Granted, he didn't know the actual price yet and that's when the realtor stepped through the doorway. "So what do you guys think? Is it a possibility?" She asked, a hopeful glimmer in her voice.
Elliot turned to her, "What kind of price are we talking about?" He asked, bluntly. The lady pursed her lips as she looked through the papers attached to her clip board. "It looks like we're looking at.." She trailed off, "In the ball park of about five hundred and twenty-five.. thousand." It was a reasonable price, a steal really if the neighborhood and schools were as renound as she claimed. Elliot didn't want to excite Raine over anything until he had talked to his parents. "That's not too bad," he started in, "We'll definitely think about it, see if there are for sure no other house that we feel so attached to, and I'll give you a call back either way." He offered his hand for a shake and business card. She went ahead and left him with a copy or all the paperwork, just in case.
"I'll be looking forward to hearing from you, Mr. Gates." The lady said, locking the door behind them. "Sure thing, Mrs. Felson." Elliot concluded as he waved. The winter snow on the ground limited their view of the yard, but it seemed large enough for a child to play in. Elliot took Raine's hand and almost whispered to her, "Snowmen, igloos, snow ball fights.. And then we'll all run inside to thaw out over a nice cup of hot chocolate." He looked at Raine, and bent down to kiss her pink cheek. "It's freezing out here, c'mon." He said, headed to the car.

Raine heard the price and her heart honestly sank, how in the world were they ever going to afford that? She felt like this all was so hopeless, what if they never found a house that they liked more than this one? And that was why she was crying when she got into the passenger seat. She wasn't hysterical sobbing, just kind of quietly crying into her hands.
She was disappointed in the fact that they couldn't do any of the stuff that she wanted to. She wasn't going to be a ballerina, she was going to have to drop out of Julliard and now the house.. It was too much at once and she just couldn't handle it in her already fragile state. She wiped her eyes before finally looking over to him with a heavy sigh, "It's not fair! None of this is fair! I don't get to graduate from my dream school and be a ballerina and I don't get the dream house and nothing is going right." She knew that this was an overreaction but she couldn't help it.
Everything was crumbling around her and she was just frustrated to the point of actual tears.

Elliot got in the car as well, turned it on and cranked up the heat. That was when he heard Raine and he looked to her. Before he could ask what was wrong, she was saying that nothing was going right and that things were so unfair. He wanted to tell her that they were going to be getting this house as soon as possible just so she would feel better, but he couldn't do that until he talked to his parents. I mean, wouldn't it be terrible if he told her they were moving into it, and then things fell through? How devastating would that be to her?
Elliot laid his hand on her knee. "Things will turn out, darling, just trust me." He smiled and backed out of the driveway. They still needed to go to the store for real food and it was already almost 5pm. "I don't care what it takes. I'll do anything to see my penguin happy." He admitted as they headed down the road.
{feel free to post at the apartment with groceries xD}
