Elliot lives on the 6th floor. Two bedroom, one bath, rents for $950/mo. That cat? That's not his cat. That belongs to the bitchy old people next door. He hopes it will fall one day.

It wasn't unusual for Raine to show up at Elliot's apartment with her hair up in a ponytail, her face makeup free and her lounge clothes on. She just didn't see a point getting all dressed up to see him when he thought, or she hoped, that she looked good no matter what. Today was no exception, she'd just gotten done working out at the gym so she was in her black tight yoga pants and white racerback sports bra. Her hair was still slightly damp from being washed at the gym and it smelled like her lavender shampoo which was pretty damn delicious if you asked her not that anyone ever did but still.
She had trouble finding time in her schedule for Elliot so she didn't really have the time to head back to her apartment, change and then go see him if she wanted any quality time. She'd found some time to run down to her favorite restaurant and pick up a large order of vegetarian lasagna. She'd decided on vegetarianism after she'd gone to a farm with her older brother and saw a poor little baby sheep being killed... Yeah, she couldn't exactly eat meat after that despite the fact that James had been eating a pork chop whilst watching this. He'd even tried to feed one of the pigs bacon! She shook her head in attempt to push the revolting memory from her brain. Her attempt was unsuccessful but she knew that she would see her fabulous boyfriend soon enough and he would make the bad thought go away.
She was walking up to his door when she saw a very pregnant woman struggling with her three children all of whom looked under six. One of them looked about five and for a split second, that old pang came back in her heart the 'you could have that' feeling. She didn't want to have to deal with Daniel Kenson! That was his name, right? Why couldn't she remember? It was something with a 'D', she knew that much for sure.
She let out a heavy sigh and adjusted the hot container in her hands as she knocked on Elliot's door, why was it that pregnant women and five year olds bothered her so much? Why is it fair that she was left wondering what could have been? She didn't want children in her twenties when she was still in school but that didn't mean that she didn't want them ever! Was that fair? How in the world could her body betray her in such a way? She'd had a small scare in the past that lead to her hasty decision to get her tubes tied because she didn't want to ever experience another miscarriage.

Elliot had only arrived home not even twenty minutes ago from work. He had hung his keys up on the hook in the kitchen, opened the refrigerator and looked for something to eat. It was apparent that he needed to go grocery shopping tomorrow when he was off. Unsatisfied and still hungry, he grabbed a bottle of water and shut the fridge door. He loosened his purple striped tie, and untucked his pressed light grey shirt from his black dress pants. He sat on the couch and turned on the t.v. to find something to watch. He didn't even know why he had cable, it was once in a blue moon when he ever watched it apart from the news.
It had been a rather long day at the school today. He had subbed-in for Mrs. Crawsy, a first grade teacher who was on her maternity leave. The school board called Elliot a week in advance and let him know that it would be a short term job, but they'd love to have him. So he took it without a second thought. Why was today hectic? Two kids were sent home sick, one wouldn't lay down for nap time, and during art time one kid nearly cut his finger off with the scissors. He was happy with his job, but wished school would be over so he could get on full time. He loved the students and the faculty treated him like one of their own. Granted, he was only twenty-two and going to be getting his bachelor's degree in education when he graduated in the Spring.
He had sent Raine a text during his lunch to see if she could come over when he got off. She agreed and so he was waiting on her to arrive. There was nothing on, so he switched off the television and decided to change out of his work clothes. Elliot only managed to unbutton his shirt half way before someone had come to the door. It had to be Raine. He smiled and half-raced to the answer. "Well hello beautiful," Elliot greeted with a warm familiar smile. He hadn't seen her in two days, well, he didn't get to see her very often anymore which really bummed him out. When they did get to see her, he was always ecstatic and his mood could be lifted no matter how bad it was. "Come on in," He said, his familiar English accent flowing like it was his first day in America. "What smells good?" He asked, eyeing the food box in her hands.

Raine grinned, why didn't she spend more time with him? It wasn't like she didn't enjoy his company! She loved him! He was her penguin for goodness sake, "I missed you, baby." She glanced down to the container of food and felt her stomach rumbling, she was so starving! "It's lasagna from that little vegetarian restaurant that I love so much." Obviously he would know that it was her favorite dish considering that she wanted it all the time, every single day but she restricted the amount of it that she allowed herself to eat because the calorie factor.
She felt comfortable at his apartment so she set the food on the counter in the kitchen and grabbed a plate so she could eat. "I haven't had time to eat yet today so I'm so hungry, sorry." She did this a lot - going over to his house and spending the first five minutes eating because she hadn't had anything yet. "I've been so busy with school and working more hours at hooters and my feminist group meets up more now." She nodded slowly before taking a big bite of her delicious meal. "But that's no excuse! I've been neglecting my fabulous boyfriend and that just isn't okay."
She knew that she needed to make a change and spend more time with him but she was genuinely loving everything that she was involved in and she was worried that she'd resent him if she gave up the things that made her who she was because of him. It wasn't like he even complained!

Elliot rested his weight on his forearms over the bar and watched her make her way around his kitchen. She knew the place so well from memory, it was liked she lived there.. without ever being there. "Oh yeah, that stuff." He joked, scrunching his nose. It wasn't his favorite, just because he enjoyed regular carnivorous food, but he tried to avoid eating meat when he could. It wasn't that healthy anyway even though it did help him when he was trying to gain a few pounds of muscle. That was back when they would go for early morning jogs and yoga.
"I wouldn't say fabulous," He winked at her and then walked to her side. Elliot wrapped his arms around her, locking them around her stomach and resting his head on her shoulder. "I miss you." Her soft hair brushed against his cheek when he kissed her neck. She smelled of lavender, one of his favorite scents. He kissed her neck once more and then her shoulder before pulling away and leaning against the counter. Even with a mouth full of vegetarian lasagna, she was still the most beautiful girl he had ever laid eyes on.
Even after a long day at work, dealing with fifteen crazy children, it was always better when he got to see her. And when she would leave to go back to her busy life, she would always leave him with a happy feeling in his chest. The same feeling that Ashley once gave him, but amplified by ten. He never really thought about Ashley anymore. Sure he kept her memory alive, but he didn't have that pain inside or the urge to just break down and let her memories flood his mind. No, Raine was the only person that he loved, apart from his parents and students. He would someday marry her, he knew this.

Raine never wanted to leave when she was with Elliot and then she d leave his apartment and it was like she never wanted to come back.... not like that, she just had so many things going on that excited her not that Elliot didn't. It was hard to explain - she missed him when she was away from him but she was content on her own. She was able to be happy without him. "I love you, Elliot Gates." She chewed on her bottom lip and leaned in so she could give him a kiss, "I have the day off of school tomorrow so we can do something if we want to except I might have to work.. I don't know but we can spend the morning in bed doing things we don't do much." She winked so he'd know what 'thing' she was talking about that they didn't have time for these days.
She wasn't a very sexual person so she just didn't have the drive to try and get him into bed especially when there was so much more that she could be doing. "But James and Kathleen might want me to watch D.J for them so I don't know how much that I'll be able to see you...." She frowned when she realized that she wasn't as 'free' as she thought that she was going to be. "I wish that we could spend more time together... It's not just about the fact that we haven't had sex in a couple months if that's what you think.... it's just... I miss you. I hate how busy that I am."
But she loved her independence, she loved being able to do things without him and still feel complete unlike her co-dependent friends.

His eyes lit up when she mentioned being off from school the following day. He was off from work, and had nothing better to do with his time than spend it with her. And then with the added bonus of possible fun time? It was going to be a great day, until she started listing off everything that she would most likely be doing instead.
He felt like saying that she should try to be less busy, but he knew how happy her independence made her and there wasn't anything he could do about it. He loved her and would suffer through the worst to see her smile. Instead, he brushed his fingers through his hair and started, "Well, why don't you stay tonight then?" But then he remembered the new puppy and Puddles. "Oh, wait, you've got the dogs." He frowned at the thought of his attempt failing so quickly. She probably had plans tonight anyways, which he was fine with. He had a lot of paperwork that he needed to go through, and needed to work on the script he was writing for a local theatre. Just thinking about that made him exhausted.

"I could have my neighbor come over and take care of the dogs in the morning." Raine reminded as she reached her hand over to run her fingers through his hair, "I miss you..." She felt kind of bad neglecting him so she was going to use tonight to make it up to him. She pressed her lips against his and slowly slipped her tongue into his mouth, she was going to make this better.
She was going to be a better girlfriend and then maybe he'd propose in a few years not that she couldn't wait, hell, maybe if she was a better girlfriend then he'd ask her to move in with her already so she would have more time with him. "I was thinking that we haven't.... done that in a couple of months and that's truly unacceptable." She didn't actually see it as a big deal to not have sex since she didn't get much from it not that she didn't enjoy it but it wasn't the most amazing thing in her life.
Spending time with Elliot was more important than having him jam his penis inside her.

He thought about the mountain of paper and junk cluttering the desk in his room. He wasn't even really sure if his laptop was buried under all of it, he hadn't seen it in a few days. He needed to get it done before Monday, along with his paperwork for the school, and his homework for college. Honestly, I really didn't have time to mess around but he was going to push it all aside for her. They needed a night just for themselves.
Since when had he become a workaholic? That seemed to be the only thing he did anymore when Raine wasn't around. Maybe that's why, it had to be why. He was keeping himself busy because he didn't want to be a bother to her and get in the way of her schedule. And it was true, they hadn't had any 'fun' time for a few months now, which didn't bother him, but he did miss it. It just seemed that every time he wanted to, she was too tired, and every time she wanted to, he was too tired.
Tonight would be good.. after he worked on that pile of shit sitting on his desk. Elliot pulled her in close to him by her hips and lifted her onto the kitchen counter. She was always so light, it was no struggle. He kissed her back, passionately, but gently. He was always gentle. He ran his hands down her back to her thighs, and then back to her hips before pulling away,"I need have to work on the shit that's on my desk, so finish eating and I'll be doing that, okay?" He said. Before walking to his room, he kissed her cheek and then her neck, nibbling ever so softly. "We can tonight, if you're up for it." He smiled and left her with that thought to chew on.

Raine raised a brow, was he legitimately rejecting her? Well maybe rejecting was a harsh way of putting it but he was making her wait which everyone knew she didn't handle well even if she didn't want to do it that much before. She'd been willing to do it for him because she knew that he was a guy and guys kind of like sex but now she wanted to do it just to prove that she was more important than his work!
She hopped off the counter and waltzed over to his desk like she owned the place, it was one sweep and the papers were on the ground well she moved his laptop once she saw it so it wouldn't get broken. She sat down on his desk with a smirk on her face, "You can either do me or...." She pointed to the papers on the ground with a mock disgusted expression, "That." She was pretty confident that he was going to pick her if he wasn't too pissed off about the whole cleaning his desk thing.
She wasn't the one who actually had to work to get laid because well she was sexy and usually all she had to do was get naked and they'd end up doing it on his bed... or kitchen floor... or shower... She was just glad that they could it wherever whenever they wanted without worrying about protection or unplanned pregnancies. "I think you and I both know what you really want..." She purred as she slipped her yoga pants off so she was just in her sports bra and her 'property of Elliot' thong which she had seventy of in different colors and patterns... yeah.

He had just finished organizing part one of his script inside a crisp new folder when Raine came in and pushed everything off. The papers scattered across the floor and his jaw dropped open. What the hell kind of wild bolt did she get up her ass? "Raine!" He yelled in a surprised and somewhere annoyed tone. Did she realize how many hours he had into that?
"What the hell?" He continued, not even noticing her advances until he looked up from the pile. This or that. He wanted this, and by this, he meant her. Elliot stared at her for a second before smiling, "Oh, now you've done it." He said, wrapping her legs around his waist. He was still in his work clothes, so he unbuttoned the rest of his shirt and ripped his tie off. It dropped to the paper covered floor, followed by his shirt. Elliot ran one hand through the back of her hair, lightly tightening his grip every now and then and then releasing. He kissed down her neck and nipped at her collar bone before removing her sports bra and replacing it with his other hand.
Who the hell needed a bed, which was not even two feet away, when you had a handy clean desk? It didn't even occur to him that is was probably uncomfortable for her, seeing that it was a relatively short and unbalanced piece of furniture. It rocked due to the legs being different lengths, which bothered him. He huffed and looked at the inanimate object like he was pissed off at it before moving her to the bed. He kissed up her stomach while slipping off his belt and pants. It was kind of a relief that they never had to worry about pregnancy, especially when they were both raging in hormones and the first place they say the went at it. "I'm feeling playful." He frowned at her with a pouty face. He kneeled on the edge of the bed in his boxers.
ooc: feel free to skip anytime. :3

Raine smirked as she slowly pulled down his boxers along with her thong... She was going to have fun with this. She was so glad to not have to stop what they were about to do to grab a condom, how much of a mood killer would that be? "I love you."
(Skip because my mom is over my shoulder and that would be awkward. Sorry, Joey D:)
She smiled up at Elliot as she snuggled close to his body with her head nuzzled into the crock of his neck. She was still breathing a little heavy but other than that, she was simply giddy! "You were really amazing, sweetie.. I kind of forgot how wonderful that sex is." She always forgot how good that he was, she'd think that sex wasn't important and how she could totally live without it and then they'd get it on and she'd remember how much that she wanted to do it all the time again. "Why don't we do that more?"
She knew that she was the reason that they didn't engage in more sexual adventures but that wasn't important at the moment. All that she cared about was the fact that she was happy. She picked her phone up to check the time and frowned when she saw the picture of D.J as her screensaver, it was so strange knowing that they were having sex purely for the pleasure and not to procreate because she was defective and couldn't have his kids. "I wish I was pregnant." She didn't mean it - she knew that she was young and didn't need kids right now but she still felt like her life was going to be empty without children.
"But you probably need to do your paperwork, huh?" She was never able to tell him what she was thinking about her infertility like there was a wall blocking communication on that one issue.

Glorious and well missed. It had been so long since their last time, that he had forgotten how loud she could get. He laid next to her, his chin on the top of her head, and his arm around her. They almost always cuddled after sex, it was like their thing. Why didn't they do it more? Oh yeah, Raine was never there. He didn't want to say that though and risk offending her so he simply replied, "Well, we should." He added a light laugh in with the end before continuing. "But then again, going without it only make it that much more special, you know?"
Then she brought up pregnancy. He felt an ache inside his chest, and instinctively drew her in closer. There had been so many times when she had said those exact words and they were immediately followed by tears streaming down her cheeks. He hated seeing her cry. Out of all the things she wanted the most, he couldn't give to her. There was no fix for her infertility.
Elliot kissed the top of her head, "I know you do, sweetheart, I know." He cooed, knowing that talking about it would only make her feel worse. They hardly ever talked about it, mostly because it hurt her, but it affected him aswell. Almost every day he got to see other people's children laugh and play, and some days he would come home upset because he knew they would never get that chance.
He brushed aside the thought, and started to think of something better. He had been meaning to ask her for a while now but never found the time in her busy schedule. "No, work can wait, you're here." He said, kissing the top of her head again before propping himself up on his elbow. "Uhm, I've got something to ask you." He paused, trying to find his words. "I've been thinking about it a lot lately, and well, what would you say if I asked you if you wanted to move in?" He looked at the bed sheets, and then back at her. "Or, since this place is kind of small, we could find a different place that we could call ours." He liked the sound of that.

Raine was surprised that he asked her to move in, she knew that it was going to happen eventually but she hadn't thought that it would happen so soon not that five years into their relationship was really all that soon.... She hadn't said anything and it'd been at least sixty seconds of awkward silence since he'd asked her when she noticed that he couldn't read her mind, was she ready for this? Did she want to do this? Of course she wanted to! He was Elliot! She loved him and she would forever! She finally broke into a large smile and nodded quickly, "Yes! Yes! I'd love to move in and this place might be kind of small but that's okay because it's just the two of us well and the dogs but they don't take up too much room and maybe Pickles will get the neighbor's cat to stop hanging out like it does." She thought that it was a wonderful plan!
She glanced down to her hand and then looked back up at him, "Elliot, I want kids." She knew that he'd figured that out by now since she'd just said that she wished that she was pregnant but she felt like it needed to be said like that, too. "I want a kid, I don't want three or four or some other insane number. I just want one and I... I keep busy because I don't like to think about the fact that I should have one kid, I should have a five year old right now and I don't.... I have you and dogs and that should be enough but it's like there's this part of me that's missing." She knew that the baby fever was caused by the fact that everyone she knew seemed to have or be having another baby.
"I just... I want one and I don't know what to do about it because this whole me keeping busy and never seeing you thing isn't working at all."

She wasn't saying anything. Why wasn't she saying anything? He pictured she'd jump right on it. No, she said no. Wait, what? Yes? Did she just say yes? She was smiling and saying yes. A smile broke out onto his own lips and he kissed her smack on the lips. He was most happy that he would get to hold her at night, and see her stunning face every morning.
His excitement dulled quickly, however, and that little pain in his chest swelled up. The mention of kids, and her actually admitting to him why she always tried to keep busy really struck home. He would give her all the babies she wanted, if he could. And then she brought up the miscarriage. They hadn't even been dating that long when it happened, but he still grew a liking to the idea of being a dad, even if it was the child of Dallas Kennedy. He still remembered him over all of these years, half thankful because he never would have been able to be there for Raine if Dallas hadn't fucked up the way he did. This, right now, would have never happened and Elliot probably wouldn't be here. He would have graduated Foxhurst and moved back to Brentwood to be with his family.
He would give anything to be able to have that chance with Raine. To raise their child and watch her grow up. There was only one thing that he found that would be able to give them that. Elliot had looked into the process of gestational surrogacy. He didn't want to bring up the idea to her just yet, he still had some things to get done before he thought about adding a child to the equation. The cost of the whole operation was expensive, but she was well worth it. Plus, his parents would help out with what they could. "I know it's hard. If it's difficult for me, I can't even imagine how it must be for you." He sat up and rested his back against the head board. "If.." he paused, "..if I could, I'd give you all the kids you wanted. You would be such a great mother, you know that? And you would make such beautiful little babies. She would have to be all you though, none of me." Elliot smiled down at her and ran his fingers through her hair. "I love you, Raine. I just want you to be happy. You deserve happiness, and that's why I give you your space."
