"Hey now, I'm a natural blonde!" Esme reminded with a tiny smile as she finished washing her daughter's hair. She was still feeling sick but it was nice just hanging out with Mark and her daughter. "Talked to Hudson about? About us or about the baby?" She glanced over to Mark with a curious expression but instantly regret saying Hudson's name out loud.
Cici's interest was perked up when her stepfather was mentioned and she had the energy to ask about him. It was heartbreaking to see her so excited about him and know that she wasn't going to get what she wanted. "Is daddy H going to come and get us? Are we going home, mommy?" Esme felt horrible but she shook her head and decided to be honest, "We are home and daddy H... Daddy H has some stuff that he needs to deal with on his own." She felt evil as her daughter started sobbing.
"Why doesn't he love me anymore? Is it because I was bad?" She was breaking her mother's heart because she was suddenly regretting dragging her down this road. She and Hudson understood the separation but Cici didn't.

"Oh we'll excuse me princess! You've had your hair red for so long I keep forgetting!" Mark said with a laugh before sighing. "Of the two things." he answered.
Mark turned his head to Cici, she was so excited and happy but then he turned to Esme when she explained to the poor dumpling the facts. He knelt down beside the bath tub. It just hurt him to see a child cry and especially when he knew the reason why. Mark kept Amelie from doing that because there was really something he didn't do good with.
"No, no... Don't cry, Cici. Daddy H loves you very much but it is just grown up problems. Grown ups argue sometimes and sometimes they need their space. I bet you he misses you, a lot." he nodded, smiling closed.

Esme didn't care that her daughter was soaking wet from the bathtub, she was crying and that was all that mattered. She lifted her tiny body from the tub and brought her into her arms all wrapped up in a plush pink towel. She was rocking her gently in her arms like she use to do when she was just a little one but it didn't have the same affect. She wasn't upset because she was lonely; she was upset because her little five year old heart didn't know how to handle this kind of pain.
"We love you very much, sweetheart and I promise that daddy H loves you too." She whispered as she kissed her forehead gently. She didn't want to upset her further, she just wanted to make everything better but the only thing that could fix this would be Hudson coming over and that wasn't an option right now. She was just so scared that he was going to find out about the baby in her uterus and feel obligated to be a good husband again.
"Mark... What am I suppose to do? She misses Hudson."

Mark frowned, looking forward then getting up and crossing his arms. He then lowered his eyes and gulped. "Have you explained to her why Hudson can't see her?" he didn't get how this was fixing anything and it was beginning to make him angry. It was for Cici's sake and she was only a little girl, she needed to be happy. What Esme was doing is quite the opposite.

"I've tried explaining to her that it's for the best but she just doesn't seem like she understands that we aren't doing this because we're mean or because she did something wrong but she just doesn't... I don't even understand, how can I expect her to?" Esme asked softly as she picked Cici up and carried her back to her bedroom so she could get dressed in her cupcake pajamas. { bim.shopstyle.com/pim/b5/56/b556227c35b31a1e9fd01e27090a3c9f_best.jpg } She got her all ready to lay back down before leading Mark into the living room. "This separation is breaking her heart... She cries every single night over him not being home."

Mark nodded, he then took a seat on the couch and then nodded. "I know it is hard for her but if you want her to be happy, you must understand that what you're doing is wasting time and tears for Cici." he didn't know why but he felt that her separation with Hudson was pointless. Or maybe it just made him upset when he saw Cici cry.
"Have you told him about the baby?" he asked her.

Esme shrugged and wiped her teary eyes, "I know what she needs to be happy is for this separation to end but I just can't... I need space right now." She frowned as he asked about the baby, how was she suppose to phrase this so it didn't sound so horrible?
"I don't plan on telling him ever." She murmured weakly before she ran her fingers through her hair, "I don't want him to know because I don't want to ruin his life."

Has this girl lost her mind and if she did Mark would sure 'nough help her find it! "Esme, you can't do that. That's not only wrong but- it's not right and that's about it." he felt like he needed to remind her that. "What are you doing here? I mean, Cici feels terrible as it is. Hudson will be- be throwing fire and may leave you. Is that what you want?" he asked her.
"First of all, what is this separation doing for you! You say you think of your daughter but you're only thinking about yourself. Cici misses Hudson, you miss Hudson and I know marrying a man while already having a daughter is different but he knew that and you knew that so why are you being-being... Senseless!?"

Mark had some good points and Esme knew that but he was making her feel guilty and she really didn't need that. She looked up at him with tear filled eyes, "Do you think that I like living like this? I hate this but I want Hudson to have time to think, he tried to kill himself, Mark and he's not happy and I'm scared for him." She wiped her eyes once more and stood up to go into the kitchen to get her tea.
"I want soup... Mark, will you bring me soup?" She was so whining when she said that and she didn't even feel badly about it. She felt like major crap! "Do you think Jon has a right to know that Cici's sick?"

Mark blinked a few times and sighed, he maybe had made her feel bad but she had to be enlightened. "Do you know his motives?" he asked her. Fine, he'd make her soup. He had time to kill anyways. He stood up then asked her, "What kind of soup do you want?"
"Well, Jon's is her father." Mark shrugged before he looked up at the selection of soups.

Esme nodded before she reached for her phone and quickly sent Jonathan a text message about Cici. "She's going to be so happy if he comes over, you know? And the three of us can all chat and bond and stuff." She wanted her best friends to also be best friends! Was there something wrong with that?
"Chicken noodle, of course!" Esme's favorite soup had always been chicken noodle, it was just something that made her feel comfortable no matter what the circumstances. She walked into Cici's room and carried her heavy little girl onto the couch so she could watch some television out there on the couch then have some fresh soup. She wanted to watch her favorite movie - finding Nemo. "Daddy Mar? I want macaroni and cheese, please."

Mark wondered why Esme didn't just call Jon in the first place. It wasn't that he was bothered by doing all of this but he felt either like her father or her maid. His back was going to hurt tomorrow morning. He still had a meeting to attend and pick up Cornelia and Amelie from the airport and then the show.
Speaking of the show.
"Coming right up, pumpkin patch." he smiled before looking to Esme and handing her her soup. "Are you going to be ready for next week when we film?" he asked her.

His baby was sick? Time for Super Dad to come to the rescue (a lame superhero persona Jon adopted in his head when he'd first found out he was going to be having a kid). The second Jon got Esme's text, he cancelled the rest of his appointments for the day and checked out of work, heading directly to the petstore to pick up a cute little ragdoll kitten for Cici before heading straight for Esme's new apartment. It took him a little while to get there, since he'd accidentally taken the route to her place with Hudson at first. Showing up to the door, he knocked, anxiously, holding the kitten in one hand. "It's Jon!" he called out, biting his lip.

Esme was enjoying her delicious soup when she heard Jon at the door, "Baby! Daddy is here!" She mused affectionately as she stood up to get the door. She greeted him with a hug as usual though it was a one armed hug since he was carrying the most adorable kitten in the world. She glanced from Mark to Cici before pulled Jonathan inside the apartment gently.
Cici immediately jumped to her feet to greet her father; she only had the energy to greet him. "Daddy! Daddy! I have spots!" She was just so excited to see him that she didn't notice the kitten until it meowed. "Is that for me?" She gasped and put her hands over her little mouth like the little version of her mother that she was; always so dramatic. "Daddy, I love you so much!" She was jumping up and down like him coming over made everything all better.
Esme was smiling fondly at the two, how did they have such a great bond when she spent half her time away from him? "You did good, Jon. You did really good and you should be proud." She whispered it into his ear and rubbed his shoulder gently, "Super daddy makes everything all better."

"I love you, too, baby, I got her just for you." Jon's day always brightened up when he saw his daughter happy. Just seeing that smile on little Cici's face was enough to get him through life, as cheesy as that sounded. He leaned down and kissed the girl on the forehead, not caring too much about catching germs because he'd already gotten chickenpox before and didn't need to worry about getting it again, before turning his head and smiling at Esme.
"Thanks, Meme." It was nice to be appreciated as a father, and he laughed a little when she mentioned his fatherly nickname. He got up to give her a proper hug, "How are you? You been doing good?" Jon knew it was probably best not to mention Hudson at that time; taking a look around the apartment, it seemed as if Esme was doing fine, though he was sure that wasn't the case.
