Serena was eager to get seated at a table and have some food in front of her! She, of course, had to arrange and fix almost everything at the table before she could order it but she got them an appetizer to start out with while they waited for their meals to cook. She was just so starving! Damn babies! "Oh my god, I think I have a headache from not eating." She put her head into her hands and made a silent pray that the food would hurry the hell up and what would you know... It did. The waitress warned that it was hot but she couldn't wait to eat a delicious mozzarella stick or buffalo wing! "Oh my goodness, I don't think I've ever been this happy about food before!" She didn't think that starving orphans in third world countries were as excited about getting food as she was right now. "Your twins are starting to move around a little bit so it's this weird fluttering feeling whenever I don't feed them when they want me to." She reached her hand over to hold his. "Eat! I shouldn't eat this whole platter on my own especially since our actual food will be out before too long." She knew that she could probably eat all of it but she didn't need to gain a thousand pounds. She was already fat enough!

Drake just smiled as she fixed the table, ordered for them, and gabbed on about how hungry she was. It was nice to see her so excited, smiling and happy. He held her hand across the table, refusing to let go even to eat. It wasn't too awkward picking up a mozzarella stick and dunking it in marinara sauce with only one hand. Appetizers were easy in the world of one hand eating, it was the other stuff that was harder. "You've got to eat up, too, I don't want your head to keep hurting." He gripped her hand a little tighter, worried that she might say no to food even though she had already admitted to be starving.
When the waitress came by next, he ordered sodas. It wasn't every day that they went out to eat, so it was nice to get something they didn't have in the house. Carver was not allowed to drink carbonated beverages yet, and they were going to keep it that way. Setting an example by not drinking soda in front of her was the best thing to do. "We'll take a diet coke for her, and a root beer for me." He looked at her to make sure that was right - he couldn't remember exactly if that was her favorite. "And, no ice in the root beer, please." He smiled and continued munching on the appetizer - ice in drinks that were flavored wasn't something he could stand. He always felt like the ice was going to melt or was already melting, and that watered down his drink.

Serena definitely wasn't going to say no to food because she was absolutely starving, still. She grinned as he ordered their drinks, so he remembered? She couldn't help but giggle at how different that the drinks that they wanted were - his with no ice and she would have been happy if there was more ice than soda in her glass. "Extra ice in mine," She added before going back to the delicious appetizer.
"It's so nice having a day just the two of us, Drake, I've missed you lately." She leaned over the table to gently kiss him on the forehead, "Do you remember when Carver was little and we'd go to that cheap little pizza place halfway between your college and us?" She never once got angry at him for leaving them to go to school even if it did leave her to take care of everything somehow on her own. Was it damn hard? Hell yes. Did she sometimes want to curl up in a ball and never get up because it seemed like things would never improve? Often! But she didn't and he came back to them making him their's because if you love something then you let it go and if it comes back to you then it's yours to keep. Right? Right. She could still remember being that scared teenage girl driving up to see him with their daughter absolutely wailing in the backseat because she didn't want to be in the car.
Looks like they made it though, just look how far they'd come! She couldn't imagine life any other way because she would be missing out on the wonderful family that they had right now even if there was a hole in her heart where Jack should be.

Drake smiled when she brought up Carver and that damned pizza place. Carver absolutely loved the ball pit and the toys and little arcade games, and always loved to collect quarters from Drake when they ate there, so that she could go play instead of eat dinner. It was a sort of bitter sweet place, because it was where he watched his little girl grow up. He could have dinner with his wife alone and Carver would entertain herself for hours; he loved seeing her happy, but he hated seeing her tell him to "go away, Daddy, I can play by myself."
Holding Serena's hand tighter, he kissed her finger tips and grinned. "I've missed you, babe." Lately, he'd been putting Carver to bed around eight and falling asleep in the rocking chair in her room, his little girl curled up in his lap or draped over his shoulder, content. That meant not sleeping with his wife, or coming to bed late because he didn't want to wake her. Not to mention James was very needy, especially of Serena - he was getting bigger, and he knew who he wanted when and why, and most of the time it was mommy because he was lonely, or mommy because he was sleepy. They were like a split up family, and yet together. "I wish we would spend more date nights out, or family days."

Serena frowned a little sadly, "It's lonely falling asleep in our big bed all alone." She squeezed his hand a little tighter and took a break from eating long enough to say what she needed to say. "I know that the children come first and that Carver is your little girl and James is my little man but you and I... If you and I aren't in this completely together than what could are we as parents? We need to make more time to do this even if it means cutting back on things that we don't need to afford a sitter like my therapy is expensive and I don't need it. I just need my husband."
James was such a sweetheart and it was amazing how much that he needed her but she knew that she couldn't just let her marriage fall through the cracks because she was busy with their son. "I want things to be like the old days again where we found time no matter what was going on. We haven't even had the time to make love lately." She was either too tired or he was too tired or they just weren't in the mood.

"I know, I know..." Drake thought for a moment, sighing. "And when we do things like this, my sister is always the sitter. We've never paid her, and I know she loves the kids, but she barely gets work as it is... You need your therapy, though, it's important to have to keep you calm." He had to think for a moment what they needed to cut back on. There was only one thing he could think of, however, and it was bugging him. "I guess... I guess I could sell the Dragon." When he mentioned this, he was talking about the race car he had been working on, in the hopes of making it to race in the Indy 500. "I don't need it that badly..." He lied. "If having the extra money means going out more and being able to afford things like this... to spend time with you... I can do it."

Sell the Dragon?
Serena raised a brow and actually laughed, "Hell no. We'll cut back on the cable, we'll start eating cheaper or eat out less or something. We'll figure it out but that's sweet of you to offer to sell it." She was really impressed with him right now and it was clear. She was just looking at him like he was the most amazing man in the world.
"I love you and I know you love me and our family but you also really want the car and I know that if it was me then you wouldn't let me actually... you kind of already did it for me. You let me quit my job and go back to school and it's incredible. I owe you this especially after everything you've given up. You've become an amazing person not that you weren't always but you just amaze me sometimes. You've handled having to grow up quickly so well." She wanted him to know.

He couldn't help it; it was as if a wave crashed over him and he was overwhelmed... with emotion. It was love, and lust, respect and renewed sense of trust in his wife. He leaned over the table and pressed his lips to hers, quickly. Then, after feeling as if he did not get enough from it, he got out of his side of the booth and slid in next to her. His hands reached up to cup her face gently, fingers twisting into strands of her hair as he held her still. "I'm going to kiss you again, because I love you." He murmured as a soft warning. Then, he leaned in and pushed his lips against hers, all his emotion spilling through a simple kiss. The love, the lust, the desire, the respect and recognition that this was the most amazing women he knew by far.

Serena was surprised when he came over and was just so affectionate and intimate without having to cross the line where it was indecent. "I love you so much that I'm going to kiss you again... again." She giggled before leaning in close and placing her hands on either side of his face, one went up to gently stroke his hair and the other rested gently on his cheek. She sneaked her tongue into his mouth in attempt to deepen the kiss and make it last longer.
She never wanted to pull away.
It was a magical one in a million sparks and fireworks style kiss that she just didn't want to end. She wanted to stay this happy and in love for the rest of her life which she, in a sense, would because Drake was devoted and even though they claimed that the marriage was open, she had a feeling that he wouldn't venture out.

Pulling away from her kiss, he couldn't resist just wrapping her into a hug. His arms around her, he leaned in, feeling her comfort warm his soul. She was so familiar; a variable of many different concepts, yet always the same Serena he always loved. He knew the smell of her faint perfumed lotion, and the exact color of her lip gloss. He knew she liked soft clothing that felt good and looked nice at the same time. He knew her body, every inch of her skin, every little hair on her head... the way her eyes sparkled in the light and how luscious her lips were. "Serena..." he murmured, smiling. "I think I've always loved you... back when we were kids and I didn't know how to love you... I knew deep down that I did." He let her go from the hug and kissed her again. "I'll always love you."

"I know it's cheesy and it's never made a lot of sense but I've loved you from the first time that I ever saw you and when we had sex... I am so glad that you were my first time even if it hurt like hell. I talked to some other girls that you had sex with for their first time and I don't know... Maybe it's my new twisted way of looking at it but were you gentler with me? They might have just been pissed but some of those girls had not so kind things to say about you, Mr. Adams." Serena nodded before kissing him on the forehead.
"All of them are wrong, everyone has always been wrong about you because nobody really knows you deep down. You're the kind of guy who makes smiley face pancakes for his daughter when she's sick and who buys the special milk for his lactose intolerant wife." She wanted him to see what she saw.

Drake frowned a little when she mentioned their first time together. When was that, late summer five years ago? In a car in the back of a Wendy's parking lot, with burger wrappers on the back seat and spilled soda on the dashboard. It wasn't glamourus or loving, the way her first time should have been. "Look, Rena, I'm sorry our first... it wasn't..." he sighed, trying to get his words out. "It wasn't like it should have been. You definitely deserved better than the back of my convertible, sloppy and slightly drunk sex."
Holding her hand on the seat between them, he thanked the waitress as she dropped off their food. They had ordered a couple's dinner, just something they had never tried before. It was two pieces of steak, a side of mashed potatoes and a side of macaroni and cheese, with a basket of cheesy biscuits and a bowl of mixed vegetables to share. He had also ordered two fruit salads for desert, just to spice things up a little. Forking a piece of meat, he held it out to her, offering to feed her. "I'm glad you know me that way, Serena. I'm... different, now a days, way different. I'm not the same guy you dated in high school."

"What do you think I deserved candles and roses and chocolates and a bubble bath?" Serena asked with a small smile, "I always pictured my first time being... magical but it wasn't well maybe it was because it was with my soul mate and that's all I've ever really wanted."
She was surprised when he offered to feed her but she definitely didn't reject his offer, "What do you say, we get this stuff in to go boxes and call Indiana and ask her to stay the night so we can go drive up to that spot out of town where you can see the city lights and we can eat and make love? Just you and I." She nodded before kissing him once more, "Like my virginity part two, you can give me the time that you would give me if I was your brand new virgin bride."

Drake laughed and put down the fork, then called over a waitress to have things boxed up. "I'm glad it was magical." He turned to her and gave her a quick kiss on the nose, one of his favorite things to do to show affection. It was simple but it meant taking a little bit of time out to show her he still loved her, every second of the day. When all the food was ready in those styrafoam containers, he paid the bill in cash and offered a hand to help her out of her seat. Laughing, he noticed how awkward it was to slide in and out of booths with her pregnant belly. "Yeah, you're a virgin alright," he joked. "It's an immaculate conception! Call the Vatican!"

Serena definitely needed help getting out of the booth, damn pregnancy! She was already so big and she wasn't even close to being done baking these kids yet. "I am totally the next virgin Mary! I feel so special!" She groaned a little as she straightened up and took his hand gently in her own. "I'll text Indiana and let her know well ask her, I suppose." She was definitely going to pay her so that was important to say.
"Are you excited for our wild night of love making?" She asked with a laugh as she walked them out to the car.
