How would you like to run away with me, Rosie? We can take the car and drive far, far away!

Rosie stopped yelling and frowned up at him, her mouth open as if she was about to carry in but ... She just couldn't. Bursting in to tears Rosie collapsed in to Drake's arms, sobbing and sniffing in a very unattractive way. Suddenly she felt like a terrible person. Though she never had any intention of stealing him from his children. 'I'm sorry', she whimpered in to his shirt. What happened to tough Rosie? Tough drug dealer Rosie? Right now Rosie wanted that side of her back.

Drake sighed when Rosie fell against to him, crying. Though he'd run out of tears, he could still feel the emotion ripping through his body. Why is it that you can't want the same things at the same time? It was never a battle between want and need with this situation. It was, I want Rosie because she used to be my lover, and I need her because she keeps me from breaking down, without worrying over any tears I might cry. However, there was, I want Serena because she is my wife, my whole life, and I need her because she takes care of me the same way, she loves our children and we date like we're young.
"Don't be sorry, Rosie," he murmured, his hand sliding up and down the small of her back, trying to comfort her. He was afraid that she wouldn't stop crying. He hardly ever saw this Rosie. He remembered her as a tough, bad-ass mother fucker, one of those girls who's a challenge and a pain in the ass, but extremely lovable. She was bright, energetic, intelligent, and he had only seen her cry... maybe once or twice. Yet here he was, five years later, the reason she was sobbing against his chest. "I'm sorry I made you cry."

'You better be sorry', Rosie muttered after awhile. It had taken a couple minutes, but her tears had stopped now. Reluctantly she pulled away from Drake and dried her eyes. No use crying over what she couldn't change, no matter how much it hurt.
'Now, where's that vodka?', Rosie looked around, spitting the bottle on the floor she snatched it up and took a large gulp of the clear liquid.
'Okay, so, no use moping, right?', she said before heading off in the direction of the sea, leaving her shoes behind.

Drake smiled when she stopped crying. He hated to see Carver cry, and somehow, when Rosie cried, the loving care taker part in him flared up. He wanted to do anything to comfort her, and holding her seemed to be just the right thing - well, after he apologized, it was. He watched her drink the vodka and then took the bottle from her. It was a fairly new bottle, and they were blowing through it fast, but... maybe if he was drunk, everything would seem less complicated. Downing a good glass full more, he put his arm around her and kissed her cheek. "Good lord, my life is so... weird sometimes. Who am I, even?"

'You're a pirate remember?', Rosie replied, recalling how they used to put on silly pirate voices all the time back in High School. Playfully she took his hand in hers again and ran the last little bit towards the water. For some reason, even though she was already freezing, she couldn't help but carry on that little bit further, until her ankles were engulfed in the waves. 'Holy fuck that's cold', she laughed, not making any effort to get away from the water, she just stood there, staring out at the horizon.

Drake waded into the water after her, jumping in the cold. He ran up to splash her ankles, and ended up tripping. The sand squished between his toes and his right foot caught on a rock. Wobbling, he crashed to his knees, and laughing, went down on his side. The shallow water allowed him to lie on his back and let the salty waves roll over him, without drowning him. He smiled up at Rosie and tickled the back of her knee, teasingly. "Come on in, the water's grand," he growled, pretending to be a pirate like she reminded him. They did have so much fun when they did that together, didn't they? "Arr, it's a salty goodness!" He practically choked with laughter from the cheesiness of the line, and splashed her leg. His smile was almost irresistible, his eyes lit up with happiness and grin spreading from ear to ear.

Rosie smiled down at Drake, splashing him a little with her feet. They always had so fun fun. It was perfect.. Yes, she had been crying and yelling mere minutes ago, but that was over now, and she couldn't be happier. The water was freezing and although she didn't really want to get soaked, she couldn't resist Drake's smile. Hesitantly, she lowered herself down, kneeing in the water, next to Drake. Then she went from kneeing to laying, and couldn't help but scream when the first wave splashed over her head, soaking her hair. As the waves splashed over them, she reached out her cold hand and grabbed hold of Drake's, squeezing tightly. They'd been in the water less than two minutes, and she was shivering from the cold.

Drake noticed Rosie shiver in the cold, and hesitantly got to his feet. Taking her hand, he pulled her up and lead her towards the logs he had sat on before. Getting out his lighter, he kicked the stack of dry driftwood sitting in the center of his makeshift fire pit. He crumpled a piece of blank paper from his journal and lit it, then tossed it into the center, watching it slowly light up the wood. He patted the log next to him for her to sit down, and pulled a blanket and a rain coat out of the hollow log. He raised an eye brow and grinned. "I come here prepared. There's some cookies in here somewhere, too..." he murmured, pulling out the box that held the journals and sifting through till he found an assortment box of Girl Scout cookies. He handed her the box, and pulled out a smaller, white box - cigarettes. "Do you mind?"

'A blanket, did you knit this?', Rosie asked, smirking as she pulled the blanket around her, she was unsure if Drake would get that she was going back to one of her old jokes, from High School. One of their first ever hook-ups next to the pool. 'Oh, no, I don't mind, I mean, I've stopped smoking ... but, yeah', Rosie stammered, for some reason the topic of smoking made her anxious. What if he asked why she'd stopped, what then? Rosie hastily dug in to the cookies, hungry for something to stuff her mouth with so she wouldn't say anything stupid.
