Having finally repaired their relationship, Andrew felt it was his duty to take Elizabeth out somewhere. Now, the zoo wasn't exactly romantic, but it was something they could do together. And hopefully she would like it. Girls like animals, right? Yeah, they like little furry things or cute things.. anything with a face that isn't human. Girls are weird. What was so special about things on four legs? Animals kind of creeped Andrew out. He was fine with humans, and even with monkeys as long as they walked like people. But anymore than two legs was a no no - totally unnecessary. Two legs was just fine. Andrew paid for their tickets into the zoo and led Beth in, showing their tickets to the man at the entrance. Once inside, he glanced around, avoiding picking up a map, because he's a man, and men don't use maps or directions. Because they're men. "So, babe, where do you wanna go first?" He said, placing his arm around her shoulder.

The zoo was really an amazing place to go! Elizabeth didn't understand why people didn't like the zoo; how could anyone not like the zoo? She just wished that they had a little one to take along with them but hey they had time!
She actually looked quite casual in just a pair of jeans and a plain white tee shirt but something about that body.... It looked hot like the fresh and easy simple look. She didn't care what she wore these days as long as she was with Andrew! "I don't know... I wanna look at the baby animals so anything with a baby. Oh! There's a baby monkey!" She was trying to throw the word 'baby' around as much as possible.
"What do you think, baby? Do you want to look at the babies? I think that the babies could be cute to look at. Don't you just love babies?" She had a serious case of baby on the brain right now.
She was just trying to see if he possibly did, too. "But it's up to you, baby."

Andrew chuckled. "Babies are pretty cute," He said, kind of figuring out what she was getting at. He knew Beth must be itching for a baby, what with almost everyone else having kids already or being pregnant. It wasn't that he didn't want children -- but he had a more traditional idea -- marriage, then babies, unlike many of his friends and classmates from back in the day. There were only a few couples that didn't have children already.
"Let's go look at the monkeys," Andrew suggested. They walk on two legs. "Maybe there's a baby." He led her in the direction he believed the monkeys were, but quickly saw a Monkey House sign that pointed the other way. Oops. Being the man he was, and refusing to get directions, a map, or ask for help, he continued the way he was already going, hoping there would be another way out and that Beth wouldn't realize his mistake.

Elizabeth was too busy thinking about how she wasn't pregnant while it seemed like everyone else was to notice that he went the wrong way. "Andrew, let's have a baby." She mused sudden;y as a couple walked by with their children. "Let's make one of those." She added as she pointed to the little blonde girl with them, her hair was in pigtails and she was just the cutest little thing. She didn't mind the idea of being a pregnant bride if she ended up with one that looked like that!
She stopped walking to look him in the eyes, "I want to be a mother and I want to stay at home with all ten of our children and I want to really enjoy their childhoods. I want to be the type of mother that neither of us had." She nodded and looked away, "I think our ten babies deserve that, Andrew."

Andrew had taken a few steps after Beth stopped, but quickly returned to her. He ignored the stares of a few angry parents, who were glaring because of their sudden stop. Sure the little girl was adorable, and she was blonde, like Beth, and blue-eyed like he was. She could have probably been their daughter. "Beth, you don't want to wait? I mean you don't need baby stress and bridal stress on top of it, baby," Andrew said, smoothing down her hair. He knew planning a wedding would be stressful, and being months pregnant on top of that would be bad. Isn't stress bad for babies?

"I know that we don't need wedding stress and baby stress at the same time but you never know.... Maybe it'll be perfect and magical. I would make a damn sexy pregnant bride." Elizabeth added the sexy pride part at the last minute as kind of an afterthought to try and lure him into the idea of conceiving when they weren't married or living together.
She took his hands in her own and gently squeezed them. "I love you and I want to make a baby with you as soon as possible."

Andrew shoved one hand into his pocket, while the other was behind his head. He puffed out his cheeks and exhaled, thinking about the whole ordeal. They we're living together, they had just gotten back together, and they weren't married yet -- Totally not how he pictured his life to be while having children, or thinking about it.
When she mentioned being a sexy bride, he laughed. "You'll be a sexy bride no matter what, baby." He kissed her nose, trying not to offend any families around the zoo. "But, Beth, really, I mean, isn't that going to be a lot? You won't be working anymore - I won't let you - and I'll help the best I can but I mean, I'll need to take on more clients and maybe get another job, too. Weddings are expensive, you know.." Andrew really didn't want Elizabeth to be double stressed, for the sake of their relationship, her sanity, and the baby.

Elizabeth let out a heavy sigh and looked away from him; why didn't he want a baby right away? Was it his fear of commitment and truly trusting someone coming back in? Did he think that she was going to leave like his mother had done? She just didn't know.
She raised a brow when he said that he wouldn't allow her to continue working, "Andrew Tuxon, I will work while I'm pregnant until I am almost due then I'll quit. We don't need a big wedding, do you want to do it cheap? We can at the courthouse for fifty bucks right now today." She was serious about babies; she was willing to give up her dream wedding! "Baby, I want to be a mother and I want you to be the father."

A cheap wedding? All girls dreamed of a big fancy wedding, right? The kind that put your parents in debt for days, but it doesn't matter cuz its your wedding, right? Girls like weddings, right??
"No, I seriously will not let you work once you hit like 6 months, babe. Too much stress." He said, and tugged her hand to continue walking. He turned them around, back in the right direction of the monkey house. "That's just too much, babe," He repeated, scratching the back of his neck with the hand that wasn't around Beth's waist, holding her close.

Elizabeth wasn't content with the idea of waiting until after they were married to have a baby which was what fueled her next remark, "So you'll have sex with me but you won't have a baby with me?" She was clearly apologetic after her snappy words as she immediately said that she was sorry and gave him a gentle kiss on his lips. "I didn't mean that, I'm sorry... I just hate it that we have to wait when I'm so ready right now. I want to go get an apartment tonight and move in together and make beautiful babies with you." She looked away from him and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. She wasn't happy at all with this whole situation! She wanted him to want to have a baby with her!
"I want a baby, Andrew and if we'd stayed together then maybe I would be your wife right now and maybe we'd be expecting a baby but things happened. You wanted the break, I didn't and I gave up on a lot when it happened but I don't want to give up on this. I want a baby and I want one soon." She didn't sound angry; she sounded absolutely pathetic.

"Baby, I want one too, but right now just isn't the time. And don't you dare try to make me feel guilty for all this. We clearly have different views on this and neither of us are going to change. And no we wouldn't be married right now Elizabeth-" he never called her that, "-because things take time. You can't just decide you want a baby right now, you can't just decide these things. We've never talked about children, and out of the blue, you're dying for a baby?" Andrew sighed, frustrated. Why was she being this way? Where did this baby fever come from?? "You know Beth," He sighed, touching the velvet box in his pocket. "I really can't believe you right now."
He dropped his arm from her waist, and leaned on a railing near the monkey exhibit, running a hand through his hair, careful not to mess it up. "Why now? Why right when we've finally fixed things, and you want to bring this up and beat it into the ground." Andrew removed his hand from his jean pocket, and crossed his arms.

"Because----Because----Because it's coming up again, Andrew, because the anniversary of the day that she killed herself is coming up again and I'm sad so I want a baby. I want something happy, alright? I want to do better than she did with me and because the day still kills me." Elizabeth blurted out all of the sudden, "She killed herself, Andrew and she didn't even care about how it would affect me. Nobody has ever cared about how it could affect me. Did you know she never said she loved me? I can't even remember a time when she was affectionate or maternal..." She trailed off and looked down at the ground.
"It's not an excuse but I just feel like I need this right now, I'm not trying to ruin what we have. I'm trying to.... I'm trying to find a reason to not be sad on every mother's dad, okay? And a reason to not think about her all of the time when the anniversary is coming up." She was trying not to cry but it was obvious that she was close to breaking down. "I know your mom hurt you, too, Andrew. I want a family. I've never had a family, a real family. Why do I have to wait?" She'd waited over twenty years!

Aaand there's the guilt trip. You know, when girls have a sob story that makes you feel like its all your fault, even if you didn't really do anything wrong? Andrew knew it was coming, but it hadn't expected it to come up like that, or so suddenly. "Beth," He said softly, feeling guilty. Ugh. "I understand, you know I do. And I'm not saying that I don't want to have children with you. I just don't think right now is our time. I mean, we just got back together, and we don't live together, we aren't married.. It just doesn't feel like the right time. I know it'll come, because.. Because I love you, Beth. You're everything to me right now. I don't wanna mess up again."

Relationships were give and take.
Compromise, right?
"Fine, fine, we'll wait... Let's just enjoy the zoo and whatever." Elizabeth mumbled before she wiped her eyes for the last time and turned away from him so she could look at the monkey exhibit. She wasn't exactly enjoying the zoo anymore; this had put a damper on her excitement. Why did she always have to wait for things? Who knows how long that it would be before he decided that he wanted to have their wedding but whatever.
It didn't matter.
"I love you, too, Andrew." She still wasn't looking at him like the baby monkey in the cage was the most important thing in the world.

What a failed attempt at being a good fiancee. He took her here trying to be sweet, trying to make her happy and show her a good time, but no. Nothing was working out. They were fighting. Yay. This would happen to him, right after getting her back.
He stood from the railing and took hold of Beth's arm. "Let's go." He said sternly, a blank expression on his face. There was no point in staying there if they were going to argue and not enjoy themselves.. He pulled her gently towards the exit, ready to leave, go home, have a beer or something, and sulk. Be upset. Be angry. Watch TV all night, be irritated, go to bed, go to work, repeat.
It sounds bad, but thats Andrew for you. He doesn't deal with things very well.
