The waves crashed very nicely on the shore. One could taste the salt of the sea in the air and enjoy the relaxing breeze. Mark planned on meeting Esme at the candy shop. It had been a long time since they had hung out. The last time he saw her was at the park when he had taken Amelie. Although, that was a long time ago. He was dressed casually—a white button down shirt, jeans and a leather jacket. He stood outside of the shop waiting for Esme to arrive. He had been having second thoughts about many things and he was sure that Esme was the only person who would understand him. He also had in mind that she had problems of her own but usually their conversations were about those.

You know the old expression like a kid in a candy shop?
Yeah... That fit Esme quite well actually. She was super eager to hang out with Mark and eat delicious candy by the pound! She was skipping as she walked to the front of the store only to see that he was already there. She immediately squealed happily before wrapping her arms around his neck in a friendly embrace.
"Mark! Wanna go get candy and talk now? I want to get two dozen pounds of jelly beans and bibble!" Bibble was colorful candy coated popcorn like M&Ms but popcorn not chocolate. She was just so happy today and she couldn't exactly say why, she just felt really optimistic.

Mark was happy to see Esme so happy. He was glad that she was living a good life, she deserved it. He smiled brightly before hugging her back. How long had it been? It had felt like an eternity. Almost as if he didn't know how to act around her but it was usually those brief awkward moments you had when seeing someone after many months.
"Yeah, you still like bibble a lot huh?" Mark asked her as he lead her into the shop. "How have you been?" he hoped she would be honest with him or at least open. He was there to listen, not that he felt she was unsettled but she used to be open with him.

"I've been doing a lot better lately!" Esme was quite cheerful today, she was just going to be a happier person and try to see things on the bright side. "I have a small bibble addiction." She admitted as she stepped into the shop. Her eyes were as large as saucers as she looked around at all of the delicious smelling candies around the store. She just wanted to eat everything!
She wanted to take a sample of everything literally.
She took his hand and lead him to the jelly bean area; they had an option to get every color basically! Her favorite was always the popcorn one so she was filling a small bag with just that before adding in any other flavors. "What about you? How's stuff with Amelie going?"

Mark smiled to her when she looked excited about all the candy. He then looked around and felt the excitement as well. He hardly ever ate candy so today was going to be an exception. He was going to get chocolates. His favorites were m&m with peanuts inside and then white chocolate, too. He followed Esme to the jelly bean section and then took a bag to fill up. He liked the chocolate pudding and vanilla ones.
"That's good! Really good." he said while scooping up some of the chocolate pudding beans. He then set the small shovel like thing and looked to the vanilla ones, "Well, I am really stressed." he pursed his lips together. "You know, I was caught by surprise in a one room apartment. Now I live in a two room in Brooklyn but the pretzel place doesn't pay that much and I'm considering on leaving AMDA to study something more technical to actually make more money. Amelie is going to start school soon and I need to think of her first." Mark was angry because that was supposed to be his sisters job but she only put herself first and because of that he was being dragged down. He then realized that he was talking too much about his stress, "Sorry, I don't mean to stress you with my crap. I swear I'll get out of it soon." he was optimistic too.

Esme frowned when he began talking about his stress; she honestly couldn't imagine having a child just dropped on you like that! She finished putting the jelly beans in the bag before turning to face him so she could try and offer some advice. She was a mother for goodness sake! She adjusted her shorts before popping a buttered popcorn flavored jelly bean into her mouth. "Mark.... I was seventeen when I had Cici which I mean you know and I totally understand all of the stress that an unplanned child can bring but I want you to remember that she's worth it." She didn't want him to ever regret his choice to take responsiblity for his sister's mistake.
"Amelie didn't ask to be born to someone like your sister who didn't want her just like you didn't ask to become a father to your niece." He didn't deserve to have to grow up and parent like this but he was going to have to. "Hudson and I might have another baby. I really hope that we do.... I love him." She was smiling so brightly when she spoke of her husband. "Anyway! What about you? Have you met anyone? Like dating wise?" She was just curious if there was any special lady in his life.

Mark was easily moved by words. He let out a laugh when he remembered that Esme went through some tough times but she made it out and she was happy. He then chuckled, "It's like I got pregnant at eighteen. My sister hates me." he didn't know whether to cry or to laugh so he hid his sadness with his laughing. "I love Amelie. She's the reason I do things I wouldn't have thought of doing when I was like sixteen or so." he nodded.
Mark smiled when she spoke of her family. At least she had rich husband and a stable home. He couldn't exactly do the same because he wouldn't be in love with a girl but only in love with her money. It was obvious. Good thing Esme fell I love with Hudson and not his money. Mark just couldn't go for someone with money without thinking about the moolah. "That would be nice, a sibling for Cici." The word sibling made him feel uneasy. It wasn't enough to make him cringe, though. "My dating life? Is as alive as Abraham Lincoln." he laughed, "I met someone at a Mets game. If that counts." he added.

Esme never thought of Hudson as rich; she knew that his family had money and that they definitely had more than average but it was easy to forget that he had money if that made sense. She loved him because he made her laugh and he knew all of her little quirks and he could make her feel ten times better just by saying her name or walking in a room and because his kisses were magical. He made her believe in all of those silly fairytales. She kept smiling as she thought of her handsome husband. He was such a wonderful man; how in the world did she get so lucky?
"I wanted to have another baby right after Cici was born but it just didn't happen. I was trying to replace what I lost when I miscarried Cici's twin but it was good that we waited. I think that five years is a good age gap." She nodded though she was unsure of her choice.... What if they didn't get along? "You and I need to find you a girlfriend, mister, it's not healthy for a single dashing man to go so long without the loving of a lady!"

Mark frowned for a second but he smiled just as quickly. "A five year difference is good. It all flows well because now that Cici is in school, you can take better care of a baby." he said with a nod before taking a birthday cake flavored jelly bean and eating it. "These taste really good!" he put some inside his bag and then tilting his head to the side.
"I guess I'm really unhealthy. I don't know, I tried dating but I guess all of the girls were more interested of what went on in the bedroom than what feelings were." Mark lowered his tone before shrugging, "They left me cold and I didn't think of any of them once they called me boring and left." he pursed his lips together. "Are you gonna find me one?" he asked her with a joking tone.

"Yes, yes I am." Esme said in an actually very serious tone; she didn't want him to have a serious case of blue balls! She glanced around the store to try and see if there was any attractive women in the store but there wasn't well unless his type was ninety years old with a walker.... Yeah that probably wouldn't work out well, would it? She pursed her lips and glanced around again to see if she'd possibly missed anyone.... She hadn't but she did spot her favorite edible thing in the whole entire world.
"Bibble!"
She squealed actually too loudly before skipping over to the selection of candied popcorn; it was all so pretty all bagged up and ready to go. She just wanted to buy all of it! "Oh my goodness! All of this bibble! I just want to eat all of it right now!" She was being lenient with her usually strict diet for her family; she'd even began stocking the kitchen with fatty foods and not that organic crap.

Mark blinked, sometimes he wondered about time and how it passed so quickly. However, he then looked at Esme and realize that you could still be the same child you were years ago. He smiled closed before following her to the biddle. He then asked her, "I don't know what you're planning, child... And it scares me." It really did. He wasn't all about blind dates but after all, he enjoyed trying new things not that he wanted one.
"I forgot what biddle was made of. Popcorn and what else?" he asked her, taking a bag and looking at it.

"I don't know, honestly.... It's just delicious and I never really think about what's in it! I just know that I love it and I can't get enough of the bibble!" Esme explained in an overly excited tone; she was practically bouncing up and down with excitement on the whole bibble issue. She had grabbed seven bags of the stuff already and they weren't exactly small bags either... She just wanted to buy all of them. "Have you ever tried bibble? I can't remember if you did or not...." She may or may not have bit him at one point when he reached into a big bowl of bibble and tried to take a piece. Okay so she did but in her defense, she was just a child at the time!

Mark looked to the bags Esme had already picked out. He then looked to her and said, "I remember I bought you a bag for your birthday like every year." he said thinking for a bit before smiling brightly, "I owe you." he said with a laugh. He then shook his head before looking to her, "You always bit me when I tried to put my hand inside of the bag. I think I have the marks to prove it." he was sure he didn't. "But you're not a tiny, rabid thing anymore right?" he asked her with a soft laugh.

Esme grinned at the memory of their past adventures; she was really kind of a rabid little thing, wasn't she? How could someone so tiny be a biter? She was like a chihuahua! "I promise that I won't bite you anymore." She giggled before reaching up to fix his hair a little; she just always had a thing for touching his hair.
He just had awesome hair!
She didn't mean it flirtatiously though that old lady glared at her when she noticed that she had a ring on and Mark did not. "Little Harlot!"
Interesting. She couldn't help but laugh as the old lady walked away in disgust.

Mark shifted his eyes up to his hair, knowing Esme's habit of touching his hair. He laughed, "Remember the last time you did ponytails on me? I swore that it was going to be the last time you played with my hair." he felt like he was a Barbie doll not a Ken doll. He then looked to the elderly lady, he rose a brow and lowered the other. "What did that lady say?" he asked amused.
"Can I try the biddle now then?" Mark asked her grinning gingerly.
