Brooke lives her with her son, Prescott and her dog, Prince. She recently asked Kasten to move in as he's Prescott's father.

The ride from the doctor's office to her apartment felt like it took an eternity! Brooke took this time to consider her options - have sex with Kasten and risk her relationship with Clark or don't have sex with Kasten and risk never ever getting back together with him. She wasn't a cheater nor was she a whore (at least not anymore) so the logical choice would be to end her relationship and then attempt to pursue one with her ex-boyfriend-the father of her baby but what if she didn't have time to wait? What if he was close to meeting someone new? She didn't know if she could handle him having a new love of his life.
"So.. I'm sorry if it's a little bit of a mess." She had a housekeeper come in every Tuesday and Friday well it was one of the perks of living at the building so she knew that it was going to be at least a little tidy since it was cleaned so often. "And I have a dog named Prince who thinks he's a huge protector dog but he's no threat. His bark is much bigger than his bite." She laughed as she cab finally stopped and she pulled Prescott from his car seat in the back and led the trio into the building and then to the elevator. "I live in the same building as celebrities! Like Esme Phelps and Mark Daniels from Shelby and Manny!" She sounded quite gleeful over this fact as if she still hadn't fully adjusted to the fact that she was and always had been a rich girl.
Upon entering the apartment, Prince raced towards them like an overly excited moose if moose jumped and barked at people... "Prince sit!" She was proud as he did as he was told and sat like a little well, prince. "Do you want the grand tour? It's not that big... I have two bedrooms and two bathrooms. This is obviously the entry way and the living room and kitchen are straight ahead. My bedroom and bathroom are off the living room of the right side and Prescott's are on the left side." She pointed to a door next to her and explained its purpose as well, "This is a coat closet!" Well.. You never know when someone was going to need to know where the coat closet was! "There's a little laundry room off of the kitchen and a decent pantry then there's a balcony with a doggie door for Prince."

The cab ride was quiet and it appeared that Brooke had a lot of thinking going on, but Kasten was too tired for that. He just stared absentmindedly out the window as the faces and buildings passed by. Once or twice, he stifled a yawn and tried to blink the tears away before it started to look like he was crying.
"It's alright," he said quietly, following closely behind Brooke and Prescott. Kasten was a fan of big dogs and would've actually preferred one whose bite was much worse than its bark, but to each their own. What would Brooke do with a dog as big as herself, anyway? And just who were Esme Phelps and Mark Daniels? He didn't watch television very often and don't even try getting him up to date in pop culture. Ever since he came back to New York, the only thing Kasten did was school and homework. He needed to catch up to his classmates who had steady jobs and careers while he was in the service.
He didn't walk around and explore, but he did study every detail of Brooke's apartment from where he stood. Kasten could sleep in the coat closet and he wouldn't complain. "Hey there, little guy. Really little guy," he petted Prince. "It's a nice place. Why don't we put the baby down so you don't have to hold him," he suggested. Kasten didn't want Brooke to be on her feet for too long, especially since she was still in the process of recovering.

Brooke was honestly surprised that Prince wasn't growling at Kasten as he still hadn't fully accepted Clark into the pack. "Weird.. He still tries to bite Clark in... a place that a man doesn't want to be bitten by a dog." Well that was an awkward way to say that, wasn't it? "Help yourself to anything in the kitchen! You need to eat, Hunter." She was going to make damn sure that he ate like he needed to because he was a big strong man and she didn't eat a whole lot so seventy percent of her food went to waste thanks to her small addiction to the grocery store. "The pantry is full, the fridge and freezer are full and there's crap in the cupboards, too if you can't find anything and if you want me to make something then I can do that." Where was this coming from? She had gone from being the biggest bitch and wanting him to sleep on her balcony to offering him whatever he wanted.
It was around Prescott's nap time so she headed into his nursery and placed her slightly fussy bundle in the crib with his soothing music on after shutting the drapes so he wouldn't have too much sunlight in there. "Sleep well, pumpkin." She pecked him once on the forehead before stepping quietly out of the bedroom and into the kitchen to get herself a nice glass of red wine. Was it wrong that she drank a glass every day during his nap? Probably but she never drank enough to even get slightly tipsy.
"Do you want a glass, Kasten?" It was the thought that counted, right? And she would totally share if he actually wanted some but she was so hoping that he wouldn't. This was expensive wine! It wasn't just some cheap twenty dollar Walmart kind - it was from a winery that her parents' friends' owned so it was seriously fancy and amazing.

Kasten released Prince to run along and do whatever small dogs did during the day and leaned on one of the counters in the kitchen. He was a huge animal lover and hope to have his own pets someday since his family couldn't afford one when he was young. It wasn't hard for an animal to like you, especially if you come over a lot. "Does Clark even like dogs?" he asked Brooke. Sometimes dogs can sense when there's hostility, so it would explain why Prince seemed to hate her boyfriend.
"Thanks, Brooke," he chuckled as he made his way over to the refrigerator for a bottle of water. She was a good mom and it showed because they weren't even in the room for more than ten minutes and she was already taking care of him. As for eating, Kasten's appetite matched that of a hippopotamus after fasting for a week. He's the guy you see at buffets that eats three plates of main courses and two plates of desserts.
He capped the water bottle and placed it back in the fridge to keep it cold before approaching Brooke. "No, I'm good, but you're breastfeeding, right? Is it okay for the baby if you drink wine?" Kasten asked, standing directly in front of her. He didn't mean to criticize her; he was genuinely asking because he didn't know.

"Clark hates dogs." Brooke said this with little emotion in her voice as if she didn't actually care what Clark thought which she didn't. She thought that he could learn to live with it if he loved her just as she had learned to live with the fact that he was kind of an abusive asshole especially if they were going to get married in two years as planned. "Oh.. It's fine for me to have some wine as long as I don't overdo it and get wasted then I'll be okay and so will Prescott." She knew that no wine was likely better than some but it helped calm her nerves and a calm mommy was much better than a tense stressed out mommy, right?
She moved over to the fridge and reached for the raspberry cheesecake that she had made the night before. "Want a slice? I'm kind of starving right now." When was she not kind of starving though? She rarely had time to eat breakfast or lunch so dinner was like a God send when it finally came time for it or in this case, snack when Prescott napped. Being the fancy woman that she was, she simply reached for a fork from the drawer and dug into the delicious fattening dessert.
"So... Um... I know that you're just getting a hang of this whole daddy thing and it's probably a lot to ask for but do you think you could take care of Prescott solo tonight? Only for like... an hour or two at the most and I'll be in the bathroom the whole entire time but I haven't had a nice bubble bath since I was like nine months pregnant with Prescott and it didn't really end well for me." She wasn't going to go into details on what happened for obvious reasons.

Kasten nodded in relief and smiled. He wasn't a newbie to alcohol, he knew the taste and its relaxing effects on the drinker, but of course things were always different when babies were involved. As long as it was okay for their son, Brooke could do whatever she pleased. "Hates, dogs, huh? Which one is it, daddy issues or mom didn't love him enough so now he takes it out on poor innocent animals?" Kasten joked. He didn't give two shits if it offended Brooke because frankly, he wasn't very fond of this Clark guy.
He eyed the cheesecake and shook his head. "No, I'm good. Thank you," Kasten politely declined yet another offer. Brooke was very generous to her guests, which for some reason really surprised him. In high school, she seemed like the selfish rich girl who only cared about herself and the boy she was after. A lot of things can really change in nine years. "I don't really eat dessert for meals," he explained. Kasten wasn't a healthy eater to the extent that he recorded every single thing that he put into his mouth, but he did try to cut out as much junk food as he could unless it was his cheat day.
"Sure thing," he replied. Kasten would never refuse to spend time with his new-found son! He thought about his empty apartment for moment, but what the hell, what could happen in just one night? All his neighbors knew he was an Army veteran and usually left him alone. Even though he only "became" a father today, Kasten wasn't nervous about watching Prescott on his own because if anything happened, Brooke was just a few rooms away even though she'd be buck naked and soapy and... okay let's not go there.
"What happened? Did you slip? Brooke, why the hell are you taking unsupervised baths when you're nine months pregnant?" He was slightly worked up not only because she put their baby in danger, but also herself. Most of the injuries that occur in the home are in the bathroom!

Brooke gave him a strange look when he actually got a little worked up over her bathroom confession and she knew that the only real way to calm him down would be to tell him the story even if it potentially changed how he viewed Clark. "I wasn't unsupervised! Kasten, I got massive when I was pregnant like Jessica Simpson big only just in my stomach.. I had her belly and I could barely get in and out of the tub but I really wanted a bath so Clark helped me in but then after an hour, he refused to help me out and opened one of the bathroom windows so it would get cold. I stayed in there for a good seven or eight hours in the freezing water before I tried to get out on my own but I slipped and twisted my ankle. He laughed at me and wouldn't take me to the doctor so I had to invite one of my friends over to help me get dressed and take me to the doctor."
She got a more serious expression on her face as she continued her tale, "I was so scared because I hit my stomach on the ground and Prescott wasn't moving so I thought that maybe something had happened to him but he was obviously fine." She didn't want to dwell on the negatives in her relationship with Clark! She wanted to think of him as a somewhat decent human being who made her happy and accepted that she had made a mistake and cheated on him resulting in a bouncing baby boy who he told her that he loved like a son even if he was cruel to him behind her back.
He wasn't a good man and she just couldn't see it. She thought that he was just being hard on her because he loved her! "I mean... It was literally like bathtub hell and I felt so trapped because I mean.. I physically couldn't pull myself up even though I tried and tried and tried and then I obviously fell when I finally figured it out." She honestly still resented Clark for doing that to her. "He slapped me when I told him that it was too hard and I had a bruise on my face for about a week or two but I told people that it was from falling... He's a good guy, you know."
She didn't want him to hate her boyfriend! She wanted him to think that he was a good father figure and hopefully one day stepfather to Prescott. "I think you two will get along nicely."

Well, if there was one thing that hadn't changed in this new and improved Brooke, it was her naive nature. What kind of sick fuck leaves his pregnant—nine months pregnant—girlfriend in the bathtub? Where did she even meet this guy? Any man with half a brain had enough manners to give up his seat on the bus for a pregnant woman or an elderly person. Clark was clearly an idiot.
Kasten thought listening to Brooke talk about her asshole boyfriend was bad, but when she mentioned the possibility of losing Prescott, he nearly lost his mind. "'Obviously he was fine?' Brooke, what the hell? What if he wasn't fine? You're—Oh my God!" He put both hands on his head and tried to calm himself down. She was right, things turned out okay and they should be grateful, not dwell on the past and be angry. "I'm sorry. It's just... the baby. Don't do anything like that ever again," Kasten said in a rather demanding tone.
Wait, scratch that. "He fucking hit you?" That did it. Kasten was really angry now. He was angry at Clark for doing the lowest thing a man could do and he was especially angry at Brooke for letting him. "Go take your damn bubble bath or whatever. Call me if you need my help and I mean it, Brooke," he said, looking right at her to emphasis how serious he was.
That cigarette sounded so good right now. He was so furious that he couldn't even stand to look at her and carry on a normal conversation. Kasten kept telling himself that it was none of his business and that their relationship did not need his meddling. Maybe she liked being slapped around like that, like Rihanna or something. He even snorted when Brooke thought that he and Clark could even be friends. Yeah, with his fists, maybe. With a sigh, he left the kitchen without a word to Prescott's room to check on him.

Brooke hated the fact that it seemed like Kasten was disappointed in her for being how she was in her relationship with Clark. What was she suppose to say? I'm scared of my boyfriend? How pathetic would that be? She felt like she was a prisoner in her relationship because if she said that she couldn't handle it then she was weak and pathetic for staying for so long but if she didn't leave then she had to suffer through it. "Alright... I'll make us some dinner after I finish my bath, okay?" She didn't want to bother him so she walked slowly into the bathroom and started herself a nice relaxing bath with her favorite vanilla scented bubble bath that made nice big bubbles which, let's face it, were fun even if you were an adult with a baby like her.
She wasn't expecting Clark to come over so she didn't feel the need to warn him that the other man had a key. She assumed that he just wasn't going to come over since he had work early in the morning but she was wrong. Way wrong. Clark Walters wasn't necessarily an evil man but he was a horrible boyfriend. He didn't love Brooke even after their four almost five years together nor did he have any intentions of ever marrying her unless he figured out a way to remove her son and dog from the picture. He wasn't here because he was a good boyfriend who wanted to make her happy, he was here because he was horny and wanted to get some even if she wasn't physically up to the challenge.
“Cookie! I'm here!” He declared as he stepped inside of the apartment. First, he kicked Prince aside which made the poor defenseless dog yelp in pain then he stomped his way to the kitchen to grab a beer. “I'm in the bathroom, babe..” Brooke even sounded nervous! What if he saw Kasten there? What if he freaked out and thought that she was cheating? “Oh..” Well Clark sounded pleased as he stepped into the bathroom. “Babe, you smell nice.” Damn.. why was he taking his shirt off? She wanted to scream that she didn't want company in the tub but it was far too late and what if she did? Kasten already thought that she was a weak little baby so she was going to suck it up and enjoy the sex.
The problem with Clark was that he could last a long time and he wasn't gentle so she never enjoyed it. It felt like it was almost instantaneous from when he walked in to when he thrust inside of her despite her whispering that she didn’t want it and her obvious whimpering. His grunting, which reminded Brooke of a dying cat or seal, was loud enough to cover her pained noises for the most part. He really wasn't holding back! He had never been this rough before and she found herself making weird whimpering hissing noises that competed with his grunting.... What was Kasten going to think?
And why was she even thinking about him at a time like this?

Once he was alone with the baby, Kasten let out a long sigh. It really hurt him to miss the birth of his first son and even more so to find out that it had damaged the mother so badly, not to mention the pains of pregnancy before then. Now, it damn nearly broke his heart to find out that Brooke was trapped in an abusive relationship. If he could, he would bust in and beat the guy senseless before sending him on his merry way, but Kasten knew it would upset Brooke, regardless of how badly it needed to happen.
Instinctively, he reached for his gun at the sound of the front door opening unexpectedly, but obviously it wasn't there. Although Kasten had a license to carry a concealed handgun, he came directly from school today, so he had to leave the weapon at home. Who the hell would come here at this time? It sure as hell wasn't her parents, he knew that much for sure. They called each other 'babe.' Oh dear God, it was her goddamned boyfriend, Clark! Kasten rolled his eyes so hard, he could swear that even Brooke felt it from the bathroom. He planned to stay hidden in Prescott's room and prayed to the God that he'd been neglecting since high school that Brooke would get the message that he didn't want to meet her boyfriend.
What the fuck? Were they having sex? Kasten wasn't sure because what usually happens during sex is the girl was the moaner and the guy was quiet, save for the occasional grunt or two. Clark was a fucking retard, literally, like literally—he was a retard at fucking. And didn't Brooke say she was still hurting? Not that he wanted to have sex with her, but c'mon now, where were the skills for defense that he'd taught her years ago? Peering over the edge of the crib, he saw that Prescott was sound asleep, so he grabbed his phone and wallet and left the apartment, making sure to slam the front door with all of his strength on the way out.
Kasten walked to the nearest store and bought a bag of M&Ms with peanuts and a bottle of Arizona Green Tea for no particular reason other than he was fighting the urge to smoke. He munched on his snack as he walked for several blocks before turning around and heading back to Brooke's apartment. This time, he rang the doorbell as if he'd just arrived for the first time. Kasten wanted it to seem like he was simply the father of Prescott, nothing more and nothing less. He didn't want to affect their already long-term relationship and he certainly didn't want Clark getting any ideas. He was trying to be the bigger person by ignoring Clark, but if Clark wanted to play hard ball, then Kasten was more than ready.

Brooke remembered all of the self-defense that Kasten had taught her back in high school but she couldn't use them against Clark without risking waking Prescott up and if he woke up... She didn't want to think what Clark would do if he was interrupted during sex by her screaming newborn. Hell, she didn't want to think what he would do if she so much as tried to push him off of her. He finally finished after about four minutes which was short compared to the forty-five minutes to an hour that he was normally able to last but it was still incredibly painful due to her injuries from childbirth. She was physically aching in every single way afterward and she had little cuts in her sides from where he dug his nails into her skin during his climax.
Kasten slammed the door... Kasten slammed the door.... Why..? Clark's eyes widened and he looked at her with a vindictive expression, “Who the fuck was that?” His tone was seething with angry so much so that she actually felt scared like he could potentially do something that she wouldn't enjoy. “It was... Nobody.” She sounded panicked and her hands were shaking.. What was she suppose to do? She stood up from the bath and wrapped a towel around her body so she could go and tend to the now screaming Prescott but Clark pulled her back by her hand as hard as he could and threw her to the cold linoleum floor as if she was just a floppy rag doll. “Clark! I need to get Prescott!” He glared and shook his head, his tone was only getting louder and she knew that if he didn't quiet then he would wake the neighbors if Prescott already hadn’t. “No! Who the fuck was here? Are you cheating on me? Of course you are! You're nothing! You're just a pathetic little whore, aren't you? But I can forgive you this time and this time only but I will have to teach you a lesson first.”
Teach her a lesson? Brooke looked up at him with scared widened eyes, “A lesson?” He didn't answer her verbally but she got the message as he slapped her with as much force as he could muster. She had to fight back a scream so nobody would say anything.. What was harder than handling the beating was the fact that she could hear Prescott crying and she knew that he just wanted to be held and comforted but she couldn't go to him. She just had to listen to him screaming while her boyfriend beat her like she was nothing. It was like he forgot that she was a person and the bruises would show up revealing exactly what had gone on inside of her bathroom.
She didn't know what he would do if he knew that Kasten was staying there so she didn't want to tell him but on the same note, what if he found out on his own and did worse? Would it be better to just be honest now? He spent ten full minutes hitting her and reprimanding her for 'cheating' before allowing her to get dressed and tend to her son who was a mess when she finally got to him. She put on her baggiest sweats and sweater to hide the marks covering her body but she had no idea how to hide the red mark on her face from when he slapped her. “Is that the punk you fucked? What does he want a round two?” Clark hissed after he heard the doorbell.
“I'll get it, Clark.. Just go take a shower, okay?” She didn't want him and Kasten to meet anymore. “Kasten.. Hey." She scooted out of the way of the door so he could come in but she had her head down so he wouldn't see her face. What would he say if he did? She couldn't make him see how strong and independent that she was if she showed him that she was in an abusive relationship. "I'm sorry that you had to hear Clark and I --" Her voice started to waver so she stopped talking in fear of breaking down and crying in front of him.

Kasten raised an eyebrow at Brooke's odd behavior, but didn't say anything as he stepped through the doorway. He quickly scanned the area and though he hated to admit it, he actually felt a bit relieved that Clark was nowhere in sight. "It's okay. I watch Animal Planet a lot so I know what a rhinoceros sounds like when it's dying," he mumbled just loud enough for her to hear.
Not wanting to stick around for her boyfriend to come out from where ever he was, Kasten headed straight to Prescott's room. "Sorry for leaving him alone like that. He was sleeping though, when I left. I just needed some fresh air," he explained himself with little to no effort to try and sound the least bit sorry. He was hoping that the loud door slamming would have Clark run out to investigate a possible break-in, but perhaps he was too much of a dumbass to do even that much.
"Brooke, do you even want me here? Like, I know we agreed that I would stay here, but do you want me here right now? I can leave if you'd like," he asked her. It was a little late, considering how he should've asked her that before he left to save himself an unnecessary trip back to her apartment. "Brooke?" he asked, impatient for her answer and reaching out to tilt her chin upwards so they could see eye-to-eye. Kasten saw the red mark immediately and even though he didn't say a word, his furrowed eyebrows said everything.

Brooke didn't want to be that pathetic girl anymore who begs him to stay but she also didn't want him to leave. "Please stay... at least stay tonight! Please.. please..." She whimpered slightly into her palm as she thought of how painful that it was going to be sleeping with the thick fabric of her pajamas rubbing against her bruises. "Please just please stay." She knew how silly that it was but she wanted him to be there. She wanted to fall asleep feeling safe with him there, was that so terrible?
"I mean... you don't have to sleep on the couch or even on the bed! Just.. please stay with me until I fall asleep." She still didn't feel comfortable having him share her bed with her so she felt that was a halfway decent compromise, right? Or was it her own desperation for him to stay that tricked her into believing it wasn't a terrible idea?
Clark.
She had almost forgotten that he was here until she heard something fall in the shower (like a shampoo bottle) and she was brought back to reality. "He'll leave after his shower.. I mean he got what he wanted so he'll just get dressed and go." Didn't that make her a hump and dump of sorts? Or was it different to leave right after sex when you're in a relationship? "Please." She hated how she was on the verge of crying. What would he think of her then? She suddenly found herself caring about being the strongest less and less and caring more and more getting him to stay.

Kasten wanted to pull her into a tight embrace and stroke her hair, whispering that it'll be okay and that he would be there for here, always. He couldn't risk having Clark come out of the shower to see the two hugging, though. Not at the cost of Brooke. "Shh, Brooke. I'll stay. I'm staying for as long as you allow me here," he reassured her. Although Kasten couldn't promise to stick around while Clark was present, he was without a doubt going to spend his nights there, protecting Prescott and Brooke and just helping out where ever he could.
"I'll take the couch like we agreed. Now where do you want me to be when he comes out?" he asked, nodding his head to indicate that he was referring to Clark. Telling her boyfriend about her baby daddy was her responsibility and Kasten was going to let her call the shots. As long as Clark didn't try to start anything with him, Kasten was willing to do anything she asked. If Clark did start something however, then it was all fair game from there.
