It was around six in the morning when Serena sneaked out of bed and down the stairs so she could start making a nice breakfast for her family. Life was going really good for them right now and she was just glad that there wasn't any more surprises or drama ahead for them. They had four beautiful happy children fast asleep in their beds, safe and sound where they belonged and she had a handsome very understanding husband who had stayed up late with her getting presents ready under the tree from 'Santa'. Carver would be up within the hour as per usual on Christmas morning which was okay because the twins got up this early anyway on a daily basis to be changed and given bottles of formula.
She was still wearing her plush angry bird pajamas and her hair was up in a messy bun. Her skin was free of make up (and achne now that she didn't pile it on) and she just looked really happy. Genuninely content with the way that her life was going and how could she not be? Her family was taken care of, she had her parents back in her life and she was working the most amazing job as a baker with wonderful people who really cared about her. She had a family at work and then her family at home and she never wanted things to change. She heard something upstairs shortly after she turned the stove off and she knew that it was time to get the kids eating and then opening their wonderful presents, hopefully in that order but it was unlikely that they would end up waiting that long.
She got James and Carver up first because she had to get their hair brushed and their teeth so they didn't look quite so messy but she let them stay in their pajamas since it was a holiday and all. James was in his highchair with a small plate of pancakes that he was sort of kind of eating but not really which was fine since he also had some infant oatmeal with banana pieces which he could eat with ease at this age and Carver was eating her own breakfast at the table while Serena got Evangeline and Sarah up which really meant changing their diapers than heading downstairs and sitting at the table holding them while they enjoyed their morning bottles since they didn't have any teeth yet to even attempt breakfast. "Drake! Baby! Breakfast!"
She had been waiting to get him up until things were peaceful since nobody likes waking up to yelling and screaming and crying infants. Today was going to be a nice calm day, she could feel it.

www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=62222919Drake had wanted to get up before Serena, he really had. Before he had slipped off to sleep the night before, he assured himself he would get up when his alarm went off at five. But somewhere in the night, Serena must have shut it off for him and let him sleep in. When she called for breakfast, he was confused for a moment. He had wanted to get Sarah and Evan up and have the kids downstairs with breakfast ready for her, but it had seemed she had beat him to it. Smiling to himself, he rolled out of bed - literally - and thumped to the floor. With a groan, he picked himself up and shoved into his slippers, then clomped down the stairs, shuffling into the kitchen. "Hey, you," he bent down to kiss his wife's forehead. "You beat me to it, I was going to get the kids together this morning." He grinned, and sat down at the table next to her, gathering Sarah into his arms and gently guiding the bottle to a better position, since she couldn't quite hold it up herself yet, like Evangeline could. Carver, who had already wolfed down her pancakes, was bouncing around in her seat, excited for present. James just played around with the syrup from his breakfast, smearing it on his hands and face. Drake smiled, happy to have his family around him.

"Awe, baby... I figured that you needed the sleep." Serena also figured that he could take care of the kids one of these nights so she could have a girls spa day but she wasn't going to mention that until he was in the more in the giving Christmas spirit and after he had tried one of her delicious pancakes. "Babe, I think Carver is ready to open up her presents... Should we let her go at it?" She didn't see the harm since she'd already ate and James was more than likely not going to eat much more than he already had and the girls were too young to open their own presents yet anyway.
She glanced at their only son who was a sticky mess... How did that child manage to get syrup and pancake in his hair but not his mouth? "And someone is making a big mess, yes he is!" She loved Carver with all of her heart and she loved it when she was this age but there was something special about it when James giggled and clapped and she knew it was because he could hear what she was saying even if he didn't quite understand. Scout as if on cue came running into the kitchen with his tail wagging a mile a minute as he made his way to James's highchair which he sat patiently in front of because he knew that pancake was going to make it's way onto the floor and into his mouth. "James! We don't feed the doggie pancake." She shook her head and laughed as he did the same. She couldn't stay angry at him when he did that and babbled something that sounded like 'no' to her.
"Why don't you take the girls out there and I deal with messy boy in here?" She didn't think it was fair if they all had to wait because James decided that he wanted to make a huge mess and put his breakfast on his head. Literally.

Drake smiled at the way Serena interacted with James. He knew it was different between the mother and son - different from the way she had treated Carver when she was that age. It was always a little more difficult with their eldest child. If she did something wrong, she had to be looking at them for them to tell her no. If she was in the midst of making a mess or doing something dangerous, they couldn't start telling her to stop - they had to jump into action before she hurt herself on accident. It was challenging, but Carver was honestly having the best life possible. Drake looked at his little girl, who was growing up so quickly, and stood up, reaching around to take her hand. Holding Sarah in his other arm, he walked with Carver into the living room, and sat her down on the couch. Handing Sarah off to her, he re-entered the kitchen to take Evan from Serena, and then went back to the living room.
Before he walked entirely into the room, he stopped for a moment to smile at Carver. She was sitting on the ground with Sarah held gently in her arms. She was motioning animatedly at the presents with wide eyes and a grand grin on her face. Drooling little Sarah just giggled and laughed at her goofy older sister, who handed the baby a plastic Christmas ornament for them to play with. Sitting Evangeline down on the baby blanket they had out on the floor, he gestured for Carver to bring Sarah over, and she passed her little sister to her father.
Drake sat with his legs stretched out, Sarah leaning on one side of his chest and Evan on the other. Carver knelt by the tree, staring at him intently, waiting for him to let her open some presents. Drake just signed for her to wait, and she sighed impatiently. "Rena, you better hurry up, or Carver's going to blow a gasket!" He called, signing what he was saying so that Carvs didn't feel left out of the conversation. She stuck her tongue out at him, and he stuck his out at her, then turned his attention to Sarah, who was trying to eat the Christmas tree ornament.

"Okay little man! Let's get you cleaned up before your sister decides to just rip into her presents without us." Serena didn't want to miss the look on Carver's face when she opened up all of her brand new toys. She'd worked far too hard to earn the money to buy them, along with Drake, to miss out on seeing her reaction to getting what she had been asking for but getting syrup out of a ten month old's hair was a lot harder than previously expected. She actually had to give him a bath! But it only took about ten minutes before he was all clean and back in his superman pajamas. He'd been walking for a couple of weeks now and it was the most adorable thing in the world to see him taking his cute little steps with his cape on so Serena let him down once they got to the living room and she moved to sit by the tree after she lifted Evangeline up. "Come here, boo! Come on!" She smiled as he stopped halfway there then stood back up to walk the rest of the way.
He just looked so cute! It was hard not to want to favor him slightly when he was her little boy. He sat on one of her knees and gave her a messy baby kiss which she adored. "Drake, should we let her start opening her presents now?" She signed it so Carver could see that it was time to beg her daddy now. Hey, all is fair in love and war and she knew that he was going to say yes so now he got to look like the hero who saved Christmas.
"I bet that Carver wants to open up that big one with her name on it from Santa." She was pretty sure that the present was going to be a favorite or she hoped that it would be. She wasn't entirely sure anymore. What if she wasn't impressed? Well then it would go to James and eventually the girls because she wasn't going to let it go to waste.

Drake grinned at the excited expression on Carver's face when Serena mentioned opening presents. He gestured for her to start, and she ran, of course, straight for the big one her mother had mentioned. This one was the one daddy was most proud of - he couldn't wait to see her drive around in the brand new toy Ferrari that Serena had found for her. Sure, it was expensive, but he wanted it for her and they had both worked hard to earn the money. When she ripped off the paper and looked at him with that bright light in her eyes, he had to grin. Handing Sarah to Serena, he helped her take the rest of the paper off and get inside the little toy car.
She sat behind the wheel and opened her mouth in awe, gasping and grinning and signing "thank you thank you" over and over. Drake was glade he had set up a camera in the corner of the room - he couldn't wait until she was older and he could show her the video of her "first car." Helping her buckle up, he sat in front of the car so she wouldn't accidentally move it, then signed for her, "Now you can race around like daddy!" He glanced at his wife and grinned at her. "Just don't do it in the house. Now hop out and go give mommy a big kiss and show her the present you got her, ok?"
Carver complied, climbing out of the shiny red vehicle. She grabbed the little box from under the tree, neatly wrapped in green Christmas paper, and handed it to her mother before throwing her arms around her and giving her a peck on the cheek. Carver hadn't actually bought the gift, but she had picked it out, and Drake thought it was cute. It was a little clay cat that Drake had helped her make, and she had painted it at the Pottery Barn. It was a mix of purple and pink, like the Cheshire Cat, who she so dearly loved from her favorite movie. Drake sat on the floor next to his wife and pulled Carver into his lap. "Daddy helped pick it out," Carver signed, and he wrapped his arms around his little girl.

Serena couldn't help but smile when Carver opened her present; she was just so much like her father! It was crazy how fast that she was growing up! It felt like yesterday that she and Drake were struggling to make ends meet with a baby and now here they were with their four children in a home that they owned with a yard big enough that Carver could actually play with her first car even if it was a toy and one day, she would have a real first car though it probably wasn't going to be as nice as the toy. She couldn't wait to see her daughter racing around the yard in her car like daddy did at work with his cars.
James was petting Evangeline gently as Carver brought over something for Serena to open. She let her only son help her get the wrapping paper off of it which he loved mostly because he wanted to play with the wrapping paper and make it crinkle which was apparently very entertaining as he kept bursting into fits of laughter. "Awee Carver! It's perfect!" She signed as she looked at the cute present. This was so going on display somewhere - she just needed to figure out where. "I think it's time that daddy opens something up from me." She searched through the tree and found his three presents from her but she wasn't sure which to give him. She finally decided to give him the small box which was shaped like a necklace box but inside were two tickets to Hawaii for a second honeymoon that the two of them definitely deserved.
It was hard as hell to figure out childcare during a week long vacation from the world and of course the cost of the trip but he was worth it. Their marriage was definitely not in trouble or even getting close to that level but it was still important that they had time for each other and tickets for a whole family was expensive so she figured that they could all go to Disneyland sometime to celebrate as a family.. Maybe when James turned a year old.

Drake opened the box with the tickets and grinned at her, gently putting them back in the box and out of view so that Carver wouldn't see - she was reading already, and if she thought she was going to Hawaii, it would break her heart when she found out that it was just mommy and daddy's trip. "I know exactly what we'll be doing there," he leaned in and put an arm around Serena's shoulder, meaning to sound seductive with his words. Oh yes, they would have some fun there. "Your turn to open a present!" He cried, and grabbed the small box from the tree. It was the size of a necklace box, but this time it wasn't a necklace. Inside was what he thought was the perfect gift - or, gift s. He considered it one gift, since they were in the same box. He couldn't wait to see her face when she saw them - an infinity bracelet, and a locket bracelet. The locket bracelet had six charms on it, each one with a picture inside and a letter engraved on the outside. The first had a D engraved, and had a picture of Drake and Indi from last Christmas inside. The next was a C, with a recent picture of Carver, and the next two were Evangeline and Sarah. The last two were a little more special... Drake didn't want to leave Jack out of the special locket bracelet. A picture of baby James was in the first, and the next was a picture of Serena holding Jack. It was a bittersweet photograph, with her sad smile and Jack's sleeping features. "I hope you like it, baby," he whispered. Infinity: img0.etsystatic.com/007/0/6064355/il_fullxfull.388091888_s53h.jpgLocket: www.popgadget.net/images/family-locket-bracelet.

Serena growled playfully when he mentioned that they would be having fun in Hawaii alone because she knew exactly what they would be doing during their vacation and it definitely didn't involve leaving the hotel room unless they were feeling like being sexual deviants and doing it somewhere in public which would probably happen. She'd always wanted to have sex on a public beach... But back to what was going on! She wasn't even in the mood for sexy time but she did know that it would be happening and then she would be in the mood.
She raised a brow at Drake's clear excitement for her to open the presents and she gasped at the sight of the infinity bracelet than the locket bracelet.. The locket brought actual happy tears to her eyes. How could he manage to be so sweet like this? How had he gone from being the no commitment rough tough player to the guy who found the perfect gift? "Drake..... It's so perfect." She couldn't find the words to say what she wanted to so she just wiped her teary eyes and leaned over to she could give him a tender kiss after she put the bracelets on. "I love you... So much." It wasn't just for the present. It was for the fact that he had clearly put a lot of thought into giving her something that she was really going to like.
She never thought that she would be married to him with more children. She never thought that she would be able to get over losing Jack and she worried that she wouldn't love the girls because having them meant losing her son but she did. She loved them so much that she couldn't image what life was like without them. "Um... James! Baby! He hasn't got any presents yet! But he needs to open his at the same time that you open yours and Carver opens another one of her's." She knew it didn't make much sense but she knew it would after she handed them their gifts. Evangeline and Sarah also got the same but they obviously couldn't open their presents. It was matching leather jackets which was a bitch to find but she did eventually and it was suppose to be in honor of Drake's leather jacket in high school.

Drake smiled when she kissed him. "Anything, baby," he murmured, and opened the gift, wondering what it could be. When he saw it was a leather jacket, he laughed aloud, and smiled as Carver climbed into hers and James stared as his in wonder. "Amazing! I love it!" He laughed and kissed Serena on the cheek, again, then handed her the next gifts from him. These two were wrapped separately. "here you go!" He murmured, excited to see her open them. It was a fun little baking kit he hoped she would use with Carver at home, since Carvs loved the real bakery. There was also a pink cupcake apron that he wanted her to wear at work. Serena was always trying to think of ways to let Carver help her bake things since she did enjoy it so much when she got to go to the bakery and help out which wasn't too often but her boss didn't mind it on occasion especially since Carver charmed the pants off of the customers and people loved buying cupcakes from her since she was so damn cute. "Oh my goodness! It's so perfect! I love the apron, Drake, I'm going to be the hottest baker at the shop." She winked to let him know that tonight he was going to see her in nothing but the apron and she was going to enjoy a special tasty treat from him if you know what I mean.
She pulled out another present from the tree that was sort of large. It was a framed blown up version of the first family picture that she and Drake ever took. It was just her, him and Carver in the hospital from the day that she was born. She could still see all the fear in her eyes from that day and the way that she was looking at Drake in the picture as if begging him to love her and their baby with her eyes.
