Cooper hadn't thought much about telling her that he use to have feelings for her since well he was obviously speaking in the past tense meaning that he didn't feel like that anymore, right? Right! But it just felt so natural to talk to her like it was always meant to be, why did he expect this to be awkward? It totally wasn't awkward! He was actually really really enjoying himself! He couldn't help but feel like this was somehow going to turn into something someday.
"You should have asked me out, Middles, I would have said yes and then maybe something maybe could have came out of that and who knows? Maybe we would have been like a super awesome couple who was still together to this day." He didn't know why he felt like saying that or why he decided to make it worse by continuing, "I just know that if I ever got you then I definitely wouldn't be stupid enough to let you go no matter what." He was dead serious! He wouldn't have ever let her slip away from him especially after Carol clearly had.

Midi smiled at him. He was just the same exact Cooper from high school, and it was nice. She still got those same little butterflies she had back in the day, and it made her feel like a kid again. Hearing an attractive guy say that he wouldn't want to let her go was also very nice. Sure, she'd been on a few dates over the years and had a few boyfriends, but once they found out that she didn't have sex, they no longer wanted to be with her. She was always just Midi — one of the guys. Or Midi — the perfect girl for some guy who isn't me.
"You know...I'm a strong believer in second chances and I think the universe might be trying to tell us something." She wiggled her eyebrows and laughed, hoping it came off as a joke. She'd totally go out with him now, if she didn't feel so ridiculous asking him. She looked down at her phone and check the time. It was nearly two o'clock, and she needed to be back by three. It took her about an hour to get back to work from Brooklyn from here, so she knew she better get going. She pulled out some cash from her wallet and set it on the bar. "I have to get back to work, it takes forever to get back to The Bronx from here, and I bet you have some bibble to sell or something so..." she stood up. "It was really nice seeing you again, Cooper." She took out her card from work and handed it to him. It had her phone number on it, and she kind of hoped he'd call her. She felt a little silly being that blatant, but maybe he'd want to see her more?
